More than 1,300 books have been wrapped, packed and shipped to military troops serving in the Middle East, thanks to the dedication of the Friends of the La Verne Library and a host of helpers. The books were purchased by a librarian with donations from the Friends of the Library and the city of La Verne paid for shipping the books to the troops. Borders Books and Music offered substantial discounts for the books and other volunteers helped with the project. This is the third year Books for the Military has helped make life a little easier for troops far from home during the holidays. 12/03/2008
