Well, upon looking at our photos again, it looks like we did get a photo of Lance Armstrong cycling through La Canada today in the Tour of California race. Here's the original photo: But, when we cropped and enlarged the photo - look what we got:Do you see him?  He's the one with the yellow on his hat.

Stage 7 of the Amgen Tour of California race passed through La Canada Flintridge on it's way to today's end, the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.   We were at one of the turns, and captured a picture of the cyclists as they went by.  It was quite exciting, and was over quickly!Lance Armstrong was somewhere among the competitors.Tomorrow is the final stage, with the course stretching from Rancho Bernardo to Escondido **************************** Fran and Rowena help home buyers and home sellers in the greater Foothills communities of La Canada (also known as La Canada Flintridge), La Crescenta, Pasadena, Sunland, Tujunga, Glendale, South Pasadena, Altadena, Arcadia, Sierra Madre, San Marino, and the greater Los Angeles area.Dilbeck Realtors is independently owned and operated.

The Lanterman House Foundation and the Historical Society of the Crescenta Valley are jointly sponsoring a tour of eight heritage homes, including properties built between 1890 and 1956.  The homes will range in style from mountain retreats to mid-century modern. Tickets will be $20.   You will be given a map and allowed to drive yourself to the eight destinations.  The beauty of that arrangement is your ability to enjoy the homes at your own pace. The La Canada High School Theatre Department has staged some wonderful productions over the years. We have attended many shows, from musicals to drama, and have been impressed with the talented performers and quality of the production. The La Canada High School Theatre Department will perform "You Can't Take It With You". "This Pulitzer Prize winning play revolves around the hysterical antics of the Sycamores, a decidedly eccentric family with a unique outlook on life. Filled with non-stop laughs, this delightful comedy by Kaufman and Hart is a hit from start to finish!" PERFORMANCE DATES: Feb. 8 , 7pm Feb. 9, 7pm Feb. 10, 7pm For additional information: La Canada High School - Theatre Department **************************** If you want to know more about La Canada, check out our previo...

How to find a good refrigerator   Now a day spending $1500 or even $500 can be a little scary, especially if you don’t know much about refrigerators.  Another thing my dad found which I love is the refrigerator is on the top and the freeze on the bottom. It did cost $50 or $100 more but it was worth it.  Do you open the refrigerator and the freezer more?   My father was buying a refrigerator last year so I was helping do some research.  One of the things he found after buying the refrigerator is that is electric bill went way down.  I believe in 5 years he can save the money he spent on the new refrigerator.   Consider energy efficiency: Replacing an old refrigerator can save you a lot of money on your electric bill like my father. Top and bottom refrigerators are more efficient then si...

How can you save money now a day on cooling?   One of the most important things you can do is to replace an old air conditioner unit with a new one.  Replacing a 15 year old unit with a new higher efficiency unit will save you about 20%.   How to stretch your unit’s life   Central air system: Automatic Thermostat: don’t run the air on all day if you are not there.  Set it to start an hour before you come home. Seal and insulate Ducts: 30-40 percent of the cool air can be lost or heat can get in your uninsulated ducts. Clear the condenser coil of obstructions. Anything that impedes airflow makes the unit work harder and will likely break easer Check out energystar.gov       Ben Bahrami Dickson Podley Realtors 846 Foothill Blvd La Canada, CA 91011 www.BenBahrami.com

Browsers  Everyone asks me which browser should I use for internet.  I thought I had to use the one the DSL company gave me.  That is not true at all.  I like Mozilla Firefox the best.   1. Less hassle to use/easy to use 2.Tabs, you can controll multiple windows. 3. You can edit the top toolbars, so you can take things off/on 4. the downlad window is handy 5.It looks nice and inturtive   I do tell people if they know Internet Exploer stict with that browser, but I think everyone should use Mozilla Firefox

La Canada Caravan On Caravan today I walked in a home today and was shocked how it showed.  It was dark and gloomy.  I wanted to get out of that house as quick as possible.  When I talked to the agent, she had no idea want I was talking about.  I told open some blinds, get some sunlight in the house, and turn the lights on.  It was a great home: Good floor plan, great area, great back yard, but the house was so dark.    Here are some simple ideas   Let in the sunshine: Window are the best, open the drapes up. Also hang rods above the window frame to make windows appear longer Lighten up: Light colors or natural colors make the room more spacious. Get centered: group your future together, instead of by the walls.  Reflect on your style: add a mirror can increase light and open small spac...

As one week ends and another begins, our thoughts turn to what is happening in this next week.  Only three days to the big feast of Thanksgiving!  For some, that means a lot of planning and grocery shopping.  For others, it means traveling to be with friends and family.  But, real estate does not stop over a holiday.  In fact, we always sell or list a house over a holiday weekend!  Are you doing an open house next weekend - on Saturday or Sunday?  One never knows what will affect the turnout at an open house.   It could be from "external" factors such as the weather or an event.  Or it could be as a result of our actions - how we have promoted the open house to the public. One of our busiest open houses ever was on Super Bowl Sunday!  Who would have thought?  It was attended by mostly w...

Foreclosures are up and prices are down and even celebrities are being affected but local real estate broker Alfonso Milanese of Show4you Realty says not his clients. Milanese has several celebrity clients who have listed their homes but they are not dropping prices like you would think. "Not everyone who is selling is in over their head" says Milanese. Two of my celebrity's clients are waiting it out, they know the right buyer will come around and they can still afford the mortgage. I have been in this industry for many years and know what loan programs to offer and what home prices are realistic for my clients. I make sure they are thinking with their head and not just with their heart when they fall in love with a home" Milanese is also becoming somewhat of a celebrity himself; he h...
