Westfield Concession Management LLC has been awarded the Concession Contract at LAX In Case you missed this news, this is not your ordinary Concession Contract. It is a seventeen year contract to develop, lease and manage food and beverage and retail concession in three terminals at Los Angeles International Airport. Westfield is expected to spend initially in improvements about $80million and probably another $20 million in midterm refurbishments. Keep in mind that in January Westfield also won a similar 17 year concession agreement at the Tom Bradley International Terminal. El Segundo February Home Sales This is my first post on El Segundo home sales.  Sales volumes here tend to be low and so it can be difficult forecasting trends or making historic comparisons over specific time frames.  For example, last month there were only six closings, bringing the year-to-date total to 11 sales.  Last year over the same period there were 17 sales.  What makes this drop particularly noteworthy is that all of the other cities in the South Bay area have actually had significant increases in total sales this year.  The good news in the sales numbers is that the median price last year over these two months settled in at $636,000, whereas, for this year the price has jumped to $680,000.  Again, the low sales volumes make doing these types of comparisons somewhat problemat... 03/17/2010

While the real estate news in California was somewhat optimistic with the number of home sales dramatically increasing over September of 2007, the sales were due mainly to home buyers and investors buying distressed properties, bank owned homes, and short sales at significantly reduced prices.  The prices throughout the South Bay were lower year over year in September with the exception being El Segundo.  El Segundo saw an increase in the median home price of just over 12% while the rest of the South Bay's median home prices decreased with most cities experiencing double digit declines.  While the news in El Segundo was a bright spot the increase in median price was due in large part to the fact that of the 8 homes that closed in September, most were single family homes.  Only one condo... 10/27/2008

On May 10, 2008, Gasoline Alley - a Hot Rod and art shop in the city of El Segundo - held its 3rd annual Car and Art Show. Like anywhere in the US, summer is anxiously awaited in California.  And in addition to warmer weather, a good indicator showing that is has arrived is with the arrival of car shows.
