The 2016 Scream Zone in Del Mar CA The Scream Zone 2016 opens tomorrow, ready for scaring young and old alike, at the famed Del Mar Fair Grounds.  The Scream Zone has been a very popular, interactive Halloween event for years, and 2016 is likely to be no different.  The slogan for the Del Mar Race Track is " Where the Surf Meets the Turf". This was supposedly said by Bing Crosby but I think it was actually the marketing arm of the Del Mar Thoroughbred Organization back when they decided to build the race track. What ever the origin, ActiveRain was a part of two seasons when we held our first ActiveRain Soiree back about 8 years ago.  Jeff Dowler and I may be the only members  of that original group that are still active in the Rain. I had my first DSLR camera with me that day and made my first effort in taking photos of moving objects that are in focus. So here is one of my favorite photos taken that day.

Del Mar Races Open July 15 for the 2016 Racing Season It’s a few weeks off, but it’s not too soon to start planning for opening day at the Del Mar Races for the 2016 season. Thoroughbred racing at the famous Del Mar Race Track opens Friday July 15 at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in Del Mar California, and runs through September 5, with the exception of Mondays (other than Labor Day) and Tuesdays. San Diego County Fair in Del Mar CA June 3 - July 4, 2016 Fair season is upon us again in San Diego County, with the ever-popular San Diego County Fair that opened June 3 and which runs through July 4 (the fair does not operate on Mondays and the first 2 Tuesdays).  The San Diego County Fair always has a theme, and in 2016 the theme is “Mad About the Fair” (remember the Mad Hatter in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland?).
