Horns installed at crossing will be used instead of horns on trains themselves. The City of Del Mar and the local transit district are taking steps to reduce the amount of train noise at the coastal city's only railroad crossing. North County Transit director unanimously approved a demonstration project Thursday that would add two pole mounted warning horns at Del Mar's Coast Boulevard railroad crossing. Once the new horns are in and working they will automatically begin honking when a train approaches and stop once it has passed. Approaching trains begin blasting their horns one-quarter of a mile from the crossing even in the wee hours of the morning.   2011 Holiday of Lights at the Del Mar Fairgrounds   The annual Holiday of Lights at the Del Mar Fairgrounds begins on Thursday evening, November 24, at 5:30 p.m. and going through New Year's Day, inclusive. This is the most spectacular light show in San Diego County, and they charge by the car, so you can take the whole family. It's just $14 for a car with five people, $19 for vehicles with six or more people, unless you bring a bus, then its $49 for the bus.
