Tomorrow is Opening Day at Del Mar, CA Race Track!! In just about 24 hours we will hear the famous "and they're off!" at the Del Mar Race Track.  Tomorrow, July 18, 2012 will mark opening day for the horse race season at the beautiful Del Mar Race Track.  The season lasts through September 5, 2012.  This is a very special year because the track will be celebrating it's 75th birthday!  In 1937 one of the original developers, legendary Bing Crosby welcomed the first visitors to Del Mar Race Track.  He and another member of Hollywood Royalty, Pat O'Brien picked a spectacular location in Old Del Mar, just south of Solana Beach, on the Pacific Ocean, at the mouth of the San Dieguito River, for their beloved pastime.   The 350 acres is also home to the San Diego County Fair, which just wrappe...

And They're Off....... Opening Day at the Del Mar Racetrack tomorrow celebrates it's 75th year. Back in 1937, Bing Crosby was there on it's first opening day to greet the fans. Hats and finery will be the standard attire for opening day at Old Del Mar where the surf meets the turf.  A lot has changed over the years but what hasn't changed is the same exciting atmosphere enhanced for larger crowds and facilities that make Old Del Mar one of the premier racetracks in existence today.

The market has been relatively cool in the last few weeks, look for the Market Action Index to show a persistent shift before prices begin to move up.  The 90 day average around 19.0 again this week.  Inventory is tightening somewhat and prices have remained relatively flat for several recent now weeks.  Days on market is down to 179 from 200 earlier this year. Back not very many years ago, Michael Jackson's Neverland was filled with carnival rides and one attraction that used to be on Michaels's Neverland property now operates at the San Diego County Fair at the Del Mar Fairgrounds and Racetrack.   The Wave Swinger that hoists riders up in the air on the giant swing set and then spins them around has been an attraction at the San Diego Fair since 2009, the year of Michael Jackson's passing.  This photo was taken at the San Diego County Fair last year but I was so pleased to learn this new bit of San Diego Trivia so I had something to write in my blog post to be able to share the photo.
