Woodie Woodpecker Wednesday/ Protecting Your Redding, Anderson, Cottonwood Home Do you have woodpeckers around your home? The last 3 years we've been visited by LARGE number of them. Recently we started hearing a noise rattling from the roof down through the wall of our home.  The woodpeckers were dropping acorns down through the plumbing vents on the roof. I found a great solution available at your favorite plumbing supplier.  A 2" "snap in" floor drain.  The openings are too small for the woodpecker to deposit the acorns.  I still haven't found a way to stop them from pecking on their reflection in the stainless steel woodstove pipe though.             Here are some not so amusing photos of the local woodpeckers in action:                       Pecking on the power pole, Ok???This one... 09/21/2010
