These days, it seems travelers take their dogs everywhere. Whether they're in the back seat with their heads hanging out the window or they're tucked into a shoulder bag, man's best friend is being welcomed into tourist spots all over the country. Carmel is brimming with pet-friendly places to go. Inns, hotels, restaurants and shops around town welcome pets with water dishes and biscuits, and many Carmel restaurants offer a 'pet menu' and private areas to dine with family friends without encroaching on non-dog-loving patrons. Among these pet-friendly destinations in Carmel is the Cypress Inn (Doris Day's place), which provides great pet accommodations, treats and even a daily Doggie Cocktail Hour in the bar. For daytime activities, the Carmel Plaza is a conveniently located shopping ar...

Millions have seem him swing savagely from his heels, heaving Hurculean cuts at 92mph fastballs with planetary championships dangling in the balance (and often connecting, sending rawhide missiles some 450 feet away). Many Monterey Peninsula residents have seen him in one of a collection of unmissable droptops purring around town. But few have had a chance to hear Mr. Four Homeruns in One World Series Game share inside stories of his time in the bigs, as he will as part of this Carmel Public Library Foundation benefit event debuting the new book he wrote with legendary bad-ass Bob Gibson, Sixty Feet, Six Inches. Feels like October. [MCA] January 13, 2010 at 7pm FREE with a $10 donation suggested!

Jazz & Blues Radio - in downtown Carmel, California KRML has been in operation since 1957 and broadcasts jazz & blues 24 hours a day. This is the same radio station that was featured in the Clint Eastwood move "Play Misty for Me." Clint, the star of the movie was a disc jokey and this was his station. The station is located in the Eastwood building. Several years ago the station was at another location in Carmel and lost their lease. Commercial space is very expensive in Carmel and the station owners were resigned to moving out of Carmel. Clint heard about it and told his building manager to keep the station in Carmel and to make a deal so they could locate in his building! The Station broadcasts online and has listeners all over the world. They also give wonderful small venue concerts...

Sunset Center, Carmel, California For Forty years the popular Carmel Sunset Center was hosting cultural events such as singers, actors, music concerts and more. After decades of use, the center was tired. For a period of about 1 1/2 yrs the center was closed for renovations. Bruno Weil of director of the Carmel Bach Festival said "It's a miracle, the acoustics are unbelievable."Now the center is a work of art visually as well as acoustically. Carmel, California A visit to Carmel, California is not complete without walking (or driving) down the hill from town to the beach at the foot of Ocean Ave. This is a great, wide sandy beach for walking or walking your dog. Carmel is an especially dog friendly area and dogs are allowed to roam off leash on the beach. The beach is sloped and shaped like an ampitheatre. Come early to get a "good seat" to watch the evening show - when the sun sets over the water. Locals and tourists alike sit and watch the gorgeous sunsets here. You may see locals strolling thru the neighborhood, glass of wine in hand, making their way to the beach for the show. Sometimes when it is an especially good sunset - people clap. Thank you God! Before or after the "show" stroll thru the downtown area and check o...

You can’t go far without seeing man’s best friend enjoying a bone at the local coffee shop or restaurant. My birthday was last Thursday and my fiance surprised me with a last minute road trip to Carmel (and a Magellan Maestro GPS!).  I can sum up our trip with one word:  WOW!It took me two days just to really relax and when I finally did we were heading back home.  Now, looking out at my neighbor's trees and fence across the street--which didn't seem so bad before I left--now looks pitiful compared to what I was feasting my eyes on for the past 3 days. We got down there on Friday evening and I was treated to dinner at Porta Bella, right on Ocean Avenue.  If you've never been to Carmel, then you might not know that there are no addresses, as most of us know them.  For example, Porta Bella's address is Ocean Avenue, between Lincoln and Monte Verde.  We wanted to sit on the back patio (the wea...

Okay, so here it is...my first blog!My name is Chris Segovia and I'm a fourth generation resident of the Monterey Peninsula and a Realtor with Keller Williams Realty in Carmel. I've been licensed since 2002. I would like to begin by providing a brief segment about my family history. Following that, I've added a few paragraphs about our current real estate market; mainly pricing trend info, unit sales and my buyer and seller recommendations. Let me begin with my great-grandmother, Rose, alive and well at the wonderful age of 98! She's an incredible lady and the glue that bonds our family together. She's been an inspiration to me and a true friend to so many generations of Monterey residents. She's still sharp as a tack and has never lost her feisty entrepreneurial spirit. If I could onl...
