Kitesurfing at the Beach in Cardiff-by-the-Sea, CA in November   A blustery fall day made for terrific kitesurfing at the beach in Cardiff-by-the-Sea, California this past weekend. Indeed, because of the wind and the cold (OK 50 degrees and wind is chilly here in SoCal) there wasn't too much else going on at the beach in the early morning except kitesurfing and a few brave surfers in wetsuits.  I personally like both feet on the ground, unless I'm flying, and a bunch of other land-lovers were out to watch the kitesurfers tackle the wind and the waves. It was pretty cool to watch, despite the chill and wind.   Kitesurfing is sorta like flying a big kite, except you use the kite to pull you along on your surf board. I saw this van parked along the coast road in Cardiff-by-the Sea (a.k.a. Cardiff) across from the beach. No doubt it belongs to a surfer, judging from the wetsuit hanging outside. I was stopped at the light and fortunately had a few seconds to snap a photo. You see all sorts of interesting vehicles here in California, especially near the beach. This one was a real prize, I think. I would have liked to have met the owner!! It's a slice of surfing life here in SoCal. 10/23/2010
