Christina Hood and I had a meet-up at Applebee's in Redlands on Friday and met three new members. Small world!  Graham Holmes who also attended is the Broker of 'Reviron Realty'. He has a brokerage in Hemet and also one in Rancho Cucamonga. Graham is originally from England and we all liked his English accent. Karen Sanchez from 'Real Living Hamilton Landing' in A...

Eating Healthy Includes Italian Baked Chicken  This month the TV, Internet and Radio has bombarded us with diet tips and what to eat and not to eat.   Well, I am eating less carbs and no sugar. Chicken is my favorite food so tonight we had delicious baked chicken. This recipe is simple and the way my mom used to cook when she gave up frying foods.   Italian Baked Chicken Fresh Chicken Legs (12) LiteHouse Tuscan Herb with Lemon Dressing (in dairy section) Directions: Put the chicken in a bowl and cover with dressing for several hours. Drain dressing from bowl and discard. Line large cookie pan with foil and lay out drumsticks. Bake at 350 degrees and cover with foil for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and continue cooking for 30 more minutes. Check to make sure chicken is fully cooked. Cool ...

National Organize Your Home Day   January seemed to be the month to organize your home and office. Here are a few tips to get yourself organized "one week at a time".   Spend 15 minutes the first week cleaning out that messy drawer you have been meaning to clean all year. Get out of the habit of just hiding stuff in a drawer.  Spend 1 hour a week cleaning out your bedroom closet and drawers. Toss old clothing, shoes, and accessories that you have not worn in over a year. If these items are in good condition, donate to a thrift store or give to someone you know that could wear them and is financially strapped. Clear off sundries from your bathroom vanity and either hang up a wall organizer or buy some under the counter organizers to put your stuff in. Many you can lift out and use, the...

Do You Back Up Your Computer? I have a fairly new computer, 12 months an 1 week, and it stopped working this week. Will not charge and will not open so it had to be sent out for repairs after we paid $83 for a new adapter since the tech was sure that was what was wrong. Now, after waiting 2 days for an appointment they now cannot do anything and had to send it in as they have no idea what is wrong with it. They said that they would call me in 4 days if they know anything. I thought these techs could at least diagnose a problem! Looks like I made two mistakes here! First one is I should not have bought an Apple computer and second mistake was trusting it to be efficient so I did not have my data backed up. 'Big Mistake' so  here I am typing on my iPad which is limited as I have no word...

A New Home for a Couple & the 'Tree of Life' Growing Tall I recently had a house close and the couple is expecting a baby very soon. They are so happy and the home is just perfect for them. As I was leaving the house today, as I looked out on the spectacular view of their sunset through the trees, I thought how right the world is for them and was so happy that I could assist them in buying their first home of many.  The tree showed up so beautiful in the picture so I sent it to them and they were thrilled. I usually give a picture of the family standing at the door with along with a gift card to a big box store for home repairs and upgrades but somehow I thought this tree picture was worthy of framing. Of course I did give them a photo of the two 1/2 of them standing there at the door...

The King Would Have Turned 80 Today Happy Birthday Elvis Presley Here is a picture of the young Tennessee singer who took the country by storm. He made a huge impact on music and the younger pop culture and later made movies that are still played today. The Ed Sullivan Show introduced Elvis to the world. Apparently Ed Sullivan was sick after having a car accident so a guest host filled in the first night Elvis performed on his TV show on September 9, 1956. Finally it was negotiated by his agent, Colonel Tom Parker, to pay $50,000 to Elvis for his three performances on the show. This was an unimaginable amount for 1956.      Unfortunately his lifestyle and drugs took a toll on his health and I think we can all agree he died way too early. Of course there are still theories floating aroun...

Do You Have a Themed Christmas Tree? I wanted to share a couple of my trees. I used to just put certain colors but then chose all Angels one year or primarily Nutcrackers but since have 10 boxes of decorations. Every year I tend to go with a new theme. Last year it was a 'Kitchen Tree' and all the ornaments were either cookie shapes, or utensils, cups, gingerbread or just something to do with the kitchen. As anyone who follows me regularly knows I am a nature lover so this year I decided to just buy new wilderness ornaments and not go through the boxes in storage plus use a 4 foot tree instead of my 10 foot one. I bought owls, bird nests, deer, moose, reindeers, bunnies, assorted birds, a few snowmen and one angel  and to finish it off, I strung red/green plaid ribbon around it. I think...

The Ugly Christmas Sweater Craze is Back- Do You Have One? Everywhere I look, the ugly sweater has made a return and in a big way. Macy's has a retro kit to turn a sweater into a new design. You can order them on the internet or perhaps they are just in the back of your closet. It was discussed on the morning news and I included the video for everyone to watch.   Red Robin restuarant is offering an 'Ugly Sweater' special so if you come to one of their restaurants next Wednesday wearing your ugly sweater, they will give you a free appetizer.    I have several ugly sweaters so I am going to dig them out and wear them this season.  Do you have any ugly Christmas Sweaters? If so, feel free to comment and leave a picture if you want.  **If you like this post, please click on LIKE.       Than...

Everyone Should Have a Trust....Do You? A trust is traditionally created for minimizing estate taxes and can offer other benefits as part of a well-crafted estate plan. A trust is a fiduciary arrangement that allows a third party  to hold assets on behalf of a beneficiary or beneficiaries. Trusts can be arranged in many ways and can specify exactly how and when the assets pass to the beneficiaries. Since trusts usually avoid , your beneficiaries may gain access to these assets more quickly than they might to assets that are transferred using a will. Additionally, if it is an irrevocable trust, it may not be considered part of the taxable estate, so fewer taxes may be due upon your death. Assets in a trust may also be able to pass outside of probate, saving time, court fees, and potentia...

Wind Storm in the Inland Empire of California I live in southern California so in the summer time we have some pretty warm weather a few months of the year, Aug and September, so I always feel fortunate when we have a rain or wind storm to cool and wash everything off. So a couple of nights ago, a wind storm just came up. I had just been to a class on videotaping on my telephone so I taped this poor tree being whipped around during the storm. Enjoy the video. The wind kept up for a couple of hours.     Southern California is a great place to live and the weather is mild approximately 10 months out of the year. I love the areas, the weather and everything about California. It is a great place to retire so if you are looking for a house, I certainly know the area well. Call Me! California...

Do You Know About the Recluse Spider...Read On. Recluse spider also Known as Fiddleback Spider    Be careful not to get near spider infested areas as the bite can be deadly. Everyone is familiar with the black widow but the recluse is just as serious.   The bite of the brown recluse spider is often not immediately painful, although a slight stinging sensation may be felt. If you can catch the spider, keep it to be identified by professionals. Symptoms include chills, fever, bloody urine, fatigue, jaundice, pain in the joints, nausea, rash, and in extremely rare cases, convulsions and death. The amount of damage depends on the amount of venom injected. The damaged area may be the size of a dime or as large as 20 centimeters in diameter. Healing is slow and scar tissue results from the wo...
