St. Patricks Day is a fun day for both kids and Active Adults. Today is the day that we remember most as kids as the day that if we didn't wear GREEN that we'd be pinched :)   Look around you at the kids....see how many of them are wearing green today.  Not that they know why they're wearing it, except they know that if they don't their friends will "pinch" them; the joy of childhood memories!                                                                          St. Patricks Day   History of wearing Green...It started with England trying to curb a rebellion led by Irish Protestants in the 1700's. This group of Irishmen wore Shamrocks to identify themselves,  but the Queen of England outlawed the Shamrock, and if you were caught wearing one you could be hung.    Many years later, when...

Construction continues on the new Banning Police Department.  For anyone that hadn't noticed, that new building next to City Hall is the new Police Department.  The Chamber of Commerce was in that location before relocating across the street.  This is just one of the projects that is either underway or planned on Ramsey, the main street.  A lot of Development and Re-Development going on, even in this tough economy.     Recently the new Rite Aid and Western Dental on 8th Street was completed, and there's a new hotel down by Sunset.  The building on the corner of Ramsey and San Gorgonio is still undergoing work on the new facade, and when it's done will complement the Coplin Building across the street from it.  Yes, a lot of changes to our town, all helping to upgrade the Downtown distric...

Banning CA, Stagecoach Town USA.  It's been a long time coming for us to really get some new Development, especially in the heart of the city.  Eighth Street and Ramsey is one of the major Intersections of town.  It leads to the 243 to Idyllwild, and to Downtown Banning.  Locals use this street to circumvent the train tracks, and to get to the High School on the South side. Any of the older Banning Residents remember the old Dairy Queen that used to be on this corner, but that was a long time ago.    Eighth Street is one of the major exits off the Freeway because of the underpass, but it has been neglected for years.  Different projects were proposed, and I for one am very glad that the gas station with Truck Wash didn't go in there.  What a nightmare it would have been trying to go str...

Blogging helps us to let others know who we are, and what we have to offer, whether it's hard core skills, or inspirational messages.  But do you really trust the person you are reading?  We can learn so much if we are open to new ideas, and take the time to see who is behind a blog. Staging was a term I had never heard of until I joined Active Rain.  This Real Estate Network has so many different fields of expertise. I read some Staging and Feng Shui articles but it wasn't until I looked on my County Dashboard that I saw there was a Stager near me.  Janice Sutton of 1st Stage Property Transformation lives and works in Murrieta/Temecula.   I read her blogs, liked what I saw, and made contact.  The first time last year that we attempted to stage a very needy house didn't work out.  But a...

Banning, CA is known as Stagecoach Town USA. Banning’s History includes serving as a stagecoach and railroad stop between the Arizona Territories and Los Angeles.  The Railroad and Farming were two of the major industries in the area. Today people move here for affordable living, great Senior Communities, Beautiful Mountain Vistas, and the attraction of having all 4 Seasons.  Clean Air, and centrally located to almost all Southern California Cities makes Banning, Ca a great place to live.    We have several Community Parks in the various Subdivisions....and this is just one of them.  This Park was named after one of Banning's long time resident and leader. A few of the Buildings in the Banning Downtown Art District are getting a makeover.  Last year the City Council approved several buildings for a Facade Grant aimed at helping to renovate and revitalize the Downtown area. Building Owners applied for these Redevelopment Grants that were specifically geared towards improving the  look of Downtown Banning.   Several Business's were approved and currently work is in progress.  If you drive Downtown you will see the work, but specifically the Art District around N. San Gorgonio Ave. is and has undergone major transformations.    Ben Stephenson's building on the corner of San Gorgonio and Hays (the one with the big Mural) has really changed the feeling of the area.  He chose to go with the Early Mission style. This Building was once uninhabita...

The Art District of Downtown Banning has been developing for several years now.  It started with several different Groups including Pass Cultural Arts Foundation , Poetry Groups, Dance, Photography and a Summer Music Series in the Park . A couple years ago I was on the General Plan Committee that met once every week for almost a year to redo the Cities General Plan.  We talked about having an official Art District at that time, and a certain area was discussed. Another Art Group formed and this Group petitioned the City Council for funds saying they would bring business into the Downtown area helping to revitalize it.    This is important because this Group has had a couple successful Street Fairs centered around Art, and they also were instrumental in convincing the City Council within...

In 1987, the Presley Company began sales of the first phase of Sun Lakes Country Club in Banning.  After more than 10 years of building and continual new sales, Pulte Homes purchased the project and finished the remaining unbuilt homes in 2003.  This grand community of just over 3300 home sites offers 51 different floor plans from which to choose.  Condos make up 7 of these plans.   The smallest condos are approximately 850 Square Feet and the largest home is just over 2600 Square Feet.  These homes and condos are scattered on and off the Executive and Championship golf courses.  The beauty of this active adult community comes from the impressive mountain backdrops, the mature meticulously maintained grounds, the great recreational facilities and of ...

Create space and light.People buy places that have space and light. Even if you don't have much of it, you can create the illusion of having it with a few small investments. One quick affordable way to create a "light" and airy feel is to apply fresh, neutral paint on the walls in every room. This will make your  space look and smell great! To create the feel of "spaciousness," even in a small space, make sure you remove anything from the floor that isn't a piece of furniture. Whether you get a storage facility, donate items to charity or ask a friend for help storing boxes, get "non-furniture items" off of the floor and out of the living space! By updating paint on all of the walls, and removing unnecessary floor clutter, you create a light and spacious environment, which is vital to su...
