I have been to many places in the wilderness that have experienced wildfires before and, in some areas, like Yellowstone National Park, for example, fires are sometimes necessary to restore balance and produce seeds to grow more trees. That is not really the case in Anderson, California, where I went this weekend to visit an old friend from Nederland. Anderson is only a 2 1/2 hour drive from Sacramento. My husband and I have passed through this area before, during trips to Lassen National Park and Mt. Shasta. Today, it's a different story. Much of the area still shows signs from the fire that destroyed 68 homes and 120 outbuildings and 8,200 acres in Anderson.
