I have been to many places in the wilderness that have experienced wildfires before and, in some areas, like Yellowstone National Park, for example, fires are sometimes necessary to restore balance and produce seeds to grow more trees. That is not really the case in Anderson, California, where I went this weekend to visit an old friend from Nederland. Anderson is only a 2 1/2 hour drive from Sacramento. My husband and I have passed through this area before, during trips to Lassen National Park and Mt. Shasta. Today, it's a different story. Much of the area still shows signs from the fire that destroyed 68 homes and 120 outbuildings and 8,200 acres in Anderson. You can read more about this and see the photographs in my personal blog today at this link: A Wake-Up Call to Review Replacement...

Some people have this skewed impression of me, like Eva Gabor in Green Acres, when I stay at places out of my element, but you know what? I have hiking shoes. I dress appropriately, mostly. It's a real treat to live like somebody else and not myself. I live with myself and my ways of doing things every single day, but it's a rare moment in time when I find myself observant of my surroundings to the point where I am surprised that excited dogs would scratch my arms and legs with their claws by jumping around and trying to get noticed. They are a bit wild. Travelers don't get up this way much, and oh, yeah, and to stay away from rattlesnakes in the yard.My friend and I share an air-filled mattress on the floor, in a room 8-feet by 7-feet. We couldn't go to sleep last night until we settle...

The 203k loan program has gone out of this world. This time FHA has really stepped up to the plate. Every real estate professional should check the loan limits in your county or the counties you work in. In high cost areas you are back in the business with Jumbo loans that have rehab attached to them... if there is no rehab then FHA may still be your answer with the 203b. With loan limits in excess of $729,000 in "HIGH COST" areas and dramatic increases in all areas of the USA, this is the "Hottest Loan Product on the Market". FHA loans are easier to get, allow qualifying faster after a bankruptcy or foreclosure than conventional loans, and have higher loan limits in many cases than the conventional loans that may have dominated the market over the past few years.  If you have a specifi...

I really enjoy speaking to Realtors and agents in groups. I like to ask them if they ever get a client in their office that tells them they have no down payment... they all say "Yes" then I ask "do you send them out the door quickly?" and the laughter is overwhelming. I then ask them to take the newest agent in their office and send those would be borrowers to them instead of kicking them out the door. then I ask if the new agent will just bring those people to one of our FREE open to the public seminars and we'll turn them into real buyers... with our network.Everyone stops laughing about that time and want to know when we are having our next FREE seminar. It is amazing that just a moment ago they were ready to kick that borrower out the door and now won't turn it over to a new agent.....

It's true...I have a thing for Kettle corn...you know the sweet popcorn that they sell...my favorite is Pop Weaver..it seems to be the freshest...the best! I have been trying to get myself weaned off the chocolate and the candy bars so when I found out I can eat the WHOLE bag of kettle corn for less calories than a candy bar...well let me tell you...it's been a real treat! When I was in my 20's everyone said "You just wait, with how much you eat if you continue you will be 300 lbs by the time you are 28 or so...Well it didn't happen...in fact it was only when I was in my mid 30's I guess that I had to start "Watching it" if you know what I mean... We were down in Anderson, CA showing property last night to a young couple looking to buy a deal. I love Anderson for it is slightly higher in elevation and you can see all our beautiful mountain ranges. There are lots of 5 and 10 acres parcels and it's horse country. On our way to the listing, we saw a lovely parcel and home where along the road the family had turned Manzanita into art forms. We've taken a few photos to share.  Country charm and some fun! We found this so charming and this family's entire property has a humorous joy to it. They obvious enjoy life and celebrating art. Here's the second doggie to greet you as you travel down Treat Street. It definitely was a TREAT for us! All the Manzanita trees along their property have been trimmed and trained to grow in sculptured for...

Well Friends, Our 1st Annual PTA 5K has come and gone.  It very fun and almost everyone won a ribbon!  I even won 1st place in my age group/gender.  I did it in about 48 minutes!  Okay.....so I was the only woman in my age group; but it was still fun!  It was a great family event.  Both of my children won ribbons (1st and 2nd place in their groups).  My husband volunteered to man the blockade.  We included the PTA member ship in the registration cost and met 1/2 of our goal.  The Happy Valley Park Foundation brought water, juice and pastries for afterward.  We look forward to next year and on behalf of the Happy Valley PTA, I thank all those who participated from set up to take down and everything else in between.

This afternoon a friend called and asked if I'd do her a favor.  "Sure," I said.  OOPS.  The Happy Valley Unified School District has a bond (Measure E) coming up in Nov. and needed people to help at the phone bank notifying the community and asking for their support.  "I do that everyday at work," I thought, "This'll be easy."  Once there, I was nervous as I held the phone in my hand not wanting to dial the first number.  Others were nervous themselves. I encouraged them along and went for it.  And just like when I do my lead generation for my business, I got into a groove.  It was ok.  The time was up before I knew it. I made about twice as many calls as I do during lead gen time.  What's up with that?! I guess it was the fact that it wasn't for me.  It was for the community. I was ha...

I always call Anderson and the Eastern part "Big Sky". It rises in elevation and provides access the the big blue sky of Anderson, CA! I don't know why the sky seems so "blue" out there....but it does. Anderson is like stepping back in time. Horse country with a vengence, mini-ranches and working ranches make up this small town feel. With some space and room to roam, Anderson is many people's first choice in lifestyle and the place they want to be. The 440 acre Anderson River Park is the center and the City's premier park with it's walking trails along the Sacramento River. It also includes picnic, tennis courts, soccer and softball fields, boat launching facilities and fishing ponds. The park's amphitheater provides the gathering place for the Mosquito Serenade and features live concer...

Yesterday was the annual Strawberry Festival in Happy Valley-an unincorporated townin Anderson, CA.  I was blessed to be able to help serve Strawberry Shortcake.  YUM!  People come from all over the area to get fresh, local strawberries on shortcake with vanilla ice cream!  It is so great to see the community come out and take pride in the place they live in.  Garage sale signs line the route to the Festival.  Many local residents sell their crafts, etc.  So much work goes in to the one day event.  And it takes so much volunteer effort.  Thanks to all who were able to help the Event Staff continue to bring the Strawberry Festival to Shasta County.  Good Job!
