A borrower and investor learned that he can use the FHA 203k to purchase the home is wants to live in and that he can now get easy financing on his investment properties and a second home if he likes using the FannieMae Homestyle Renovation loan product. Our Wells Fargo Home Mortgage renovation loan expert, Tim Floyd does both. There were several contractors there whom I offered our book "Contractors and the 203k". East Bay Mortgage Market Update for February 15th 2011 Economic News:  Today's Retail Sales report was a bit weaker than expected. It looks like the consumer pulled back a touch in January. Gains were mostly attributed to higher energy & and food prices. The Housing Market Index (a report from the National Association of Home Builders) was also released and for the fourth consecutive the index was at a tepid 16. Mortgage Markets: The 10 Year Note is currently trading at 3.631% and Mortgage Backed Securities have made moderate gains from their overnight level. We have pulled back from the trend that was driving the 10 Year Note toward, and possibly through, the 3.75-3.80 range last week.
