Most provinces in Canada are heading into a long weekend as Monday, August 1 is a Civic Holiday.  BC Day is celebrated in our area with many events and activities for all to enjoy!  Here are a few of the fun things to do in Langley and Fort Langley this weekend:   Visit the Langley Demonstration Garden - 4887 221st Street - Get involved and learn about the environment at our own urban oasis! The BC Farm Machinery & Agricultural Museum in historic Fort Langley (BC's first capital) has model trains, miniature horses, and a scavenger hunt amongst other activities Berry picking is still a delicious past-time - Driediger Farms Market and Krause Berry Farms are favorites! I have a very locally contentious topic to post about on a FEARLESS FRIDAY - and it's also WHAT GETS MY GOAT, too!  We live in a rural area of Langley, part of the Agricultural Land Reserve (ALR), and I have enjoyed living here most of my life - loving the horse farms and wineries that surround us.  Two years ago a large farm in the area was sold and the new owners planted blueberry bushes.  Us neighbors were happy thinking we'd support the farmers and get delicious blueberries right in our area, and the folks on the farm seemed to be diligent, hard workers.  Jump forward to last year, right around the end of June when the first crop started to ripen, and the "audible noise scare devices" (propane cannons) started going off....well, that changed my perspective on blueberry farms and blu...

Was realizing how lucky we are in the Lower Mainland to be free of much of the wrath of Mother Nature that the rest of the country seems to be suffering. We have had a somewhat rainy spring and summer, which has played havoc with the fruit and berry crops, but all-in-all we probably can't complain too much when you compare our weather with the heat that the central and eastern folks are feeling!  The other day a thunderstorm came through Langley and the resulting rainbow was a beautiful reminder of how important it is to be grateful for what we have!  Sometimes life passes so fast we miss the wonders of nature. If you would like to experience the joys of living in the Fraser Valley - Langley, Surrey, White Rock - please let me help in finding you a home!

“Our girls” just enjoying the sunshine in Langley this fine Sunday – and having a little splash!  It was a busy weekend, they had to sleep all day guard the place while their woman and man worked – so it’s time for some fun!   Riley (the Primary Dog) is the jumper.  Haley (the Auxillary Dog) is the blondie.    One last jump from Air Riley - and yes, that's my thumb... It's lovely in Langley and Surrey - and the properties out here were meant for summertime fun!  Please call me if you are considering relocating to this area - or just have questions about your current property situation.

We’ve had such a cold and rainy spring that we are all very happy to see some sunshine, warmer weather, and those luscious berries!   Although the strawberry plants in our own garden have been sporadically bearing fruit over the past week or so, we haven’t had the sustained sunshine and warmth to ripen the berries and make them as sweet as they usually are. Not any longer – we have some delicious berries now!   If you are heading out Langley way, Krause Berry Farms is one of our favourite places to stop by for a strawberry feast – and they are finally opening to the public this weekend. Although, in their 35+ years of operation, this is the latest the farm has ever opened, it was worth the wait!               Krause’s is one of Langley’s biggest berry farms - strawberries, blueberries, ...

Was out for a walk the other day in our rural area of South Langley and was really taken in by the gorgeous yellow fields of buttercups that are blooming all over the neighbourhood.  Ranunculus are certainly not the most desirable of plants, as any gardener knows – and are a real pain to try to remove from your lawn – but somehow, a whole field of them just looks right!  And my four-legged equine friend seems to love them too!   If you also enjoy the Langley or Surrey areas and are considering relocation, please give me a call – I’d love to help you find a place in our community, or work with you on your transition to a new neighbourhood!

Each year, more than $8 million is raised and distributed to services for those in need. Find a Great Deal on a Home in Surrey, Cloverdale or Clayton Hill during the Olympics. There are many people completely focused on the upcoming Olympics here in Vancouver and area. There's talk about the cost of Gold Medal final hockey tickets, and the price we're paying for the truck-loads of snow being brought down from Manning Park to the Cypress Bowl ski area. Something that's going a little bit un-noticed is the up-tick of new real estate listings in the last 6 weeks in the Fraser Valley, Surrey, Cloverdale, and Clayton Hill (to see video). This fact, coupled with the fact that so many people will be putting their home search activities on hold for a few weeks could spell a real opportunity for those buyers who are serious about moving and are willing to put their goals of home-own...
