I was sitting down having coffee with a friend of mine Owen Greaves who happens to be heavily involved in social media, technology and IT strategic planning for business. We got to talking about how in all reality most business over the next 3-7 years will move to online at home business, this is will exclude big box stores like wal-mart, best buy, etc. just because your overhead is lower and people just naturally go to the Internet anyway. 86% of home buyers start there search online, the stats might have even climbed since the last time I looked, and a large number of sellers look online to determine what there home might sell for. So this is where my article really begins. If you are interviewing agents for the job of selling your home or trying to find a agent to help you find a hom...

Louise Henry, Home Staging consultant  is passionate about staging homes for sale & Redesigning homes for living and shares her passion and knowledge giving talks at Home shows & the Chilliwack & Abbostford libraries. In today's competitive house market home owners need to put a greater  effort into making their home stand out amongst the competition  when it comes to selling their home.   I remember the days when buyers would come knocking on our door wanting to buy our home,  well those days are long gone.     In Todays market the buyer wants alot more for their dollar and if your home does not meet their expectations your home may well sit on the market for a long, long time and time often means money.  If your selling your home you obviously have other plans to do something with the...

Its playoff time in the National Hockey League teams compete for Lord Stanley's Cup.. A Canuck's fan, Joel Nagtegaal, has changed the call from Go Canuck Go to  GoatCanucksGoat.   Here's the deal. Joe set out to raise enough money to buy sixteen goats which represents one goat for every Canucks win. Winning the Stanley Cup requires sixteen playoff wins so sixteen wins get sixteen goats for African Villagers. The Canucks are out of the playoffs with only six wins and Joe does not have sixteen goats.   As of May 14th Joe has 684 goats!!!     Joe does not have the goats in his apartment as the logistics are handled by The Christian Reformed World Relief Committee. Check out the Goat Meter by clicking on the logo below and you will find links to make donations from Canada or the USA.

Well it seems my post on private water ski site development really draws a lot of people in so I figured I would let you know that there is a facility in Abbotsford which promotes and offers a great place for you to call your own skiers paradise. It is called the Fraser Valley Water Ski Club other wise known as Albert Dyck Park right near the airport. With the lake being sunk in about 8-20 feet depending on the water level it provides just about perfect conditions all day, every day. Which for most people that ski is just perfect, you are also welcome to wakeboard however the primary focus is on water skiing. Rightly so because to ski requires much calmer waters to complete an enjoyable set.  So for more information on FVWSC click here. There is all kinds of information on how to become...

I stopped in at K&M automotive this week to see a vast array of Muscle cars in the shop. Owner Corey Doerksen has always had a passion for a little extra HP and it seems that since the weather has been great the Hot Rods are coming out of hibernation. Whether your Hot Rod needs some maintenance, a little extra horsepower, custom exhaust, brakes or a correct part for your restoration Corey only does it one way. The right way. 64 Fairlane with a 347 Stroker motor, 70 AMX 360 T10 4sp with Rally Pak, Stunning 69 SS 396, and a Mustang coupe. And then here is what was on the hoist for some maintenance.   Beautiful 57 Bel Air Convertible. I have known Corey for 20 years and have always been impressed with his automobile knowledge, passion and the willingness to take on something out of the ord...

I know this could seem a little bit different than normal but I feel it is time to share some of who I am and why I do what I do. I hope you enjoy this piece and hopefully it gives you a little insight into who I am too. Why I choose to Sell Real Estate besides making a living is to help people (you the reader). Most people will tell you they do it for the money or they love real estate its self. But I do it because I love people, the excitement and joy that comes from helping someone find a home that they can live in, enjoy, and raise a family is unexplainable.  I do it because the opportunity I have to impact people (you the reader) in Abbotsford in a positive way, and help them achieve there goals is a blessing. When I have the opportunity to help people discover what is really impor...

Spring is here and there seems to be less time in the garage. Between the outside maintenance, lawn tune up, family functions and of course Real Estate the progress has come to a slight standstill. I am hopeful that I can have the body off the frame this month.    All the sheet metal is now fully welded and it seems like countless hours adding and grinding metal to the edges to make a perfect gap. The trunk edges were the worst as the corners were pointed rather than a gentle curve.     Patch panel for the fender and the holes in the doors and fenders welded as the bodyside chrome is not going back on. Out with the #s matching 327 and powerglide. I will keep them as they belong to the car.     And enter the big block for mockup and clearance fitting.   This is a 1989 454 and T400. As th...

We all know we need to market ourselves so remember to promote yourself everywhere, and be unique. Most of us have the same old advertising and the same as everyone else's.  Try something new and different. Think about your responses when you are talking with clients/customers.  If you meet or hear from someone new ask them "What did you hear about me?" not "How did you hear about me?"  You will get way more info this way and maybe you can incorporate some of it into your marketing and promotional material.Don't say "I did 100 hundred transactions/ends" - why not say "I was involved and assisted / helped 100 families move into their new homes" or whatever it is ........... it is far more effective.  They don't care if you are Mr. or Mrs. #1 in Canada but they do care that you can help th...

...Well it depends if you listen or not. Honest Realtors can make a difference of epic proportions to your bottom line. Allow me to explain, I will try to be as brief as possible so you can get on with your day. Having a Realtor that tells it how it is and is brutally honest with you is what you want, because if you where going to sell your house and one Realtor came in and said that you should list your house at $400,000 even thought you though it was worth $460,000 and you interview another agent and they say sure we can list it at your price and doesn't say anything else. You are going to end up loosing that $60,000 and most likely more especially in a declining market. I don't know how many times I have said it and I guarantee all Realtors have said it as well. "You have to price ah...

I was on Twitter today and asked the question "What relevant Real Estate information do you want to read about?" and this is the first topic that came back courtesy of Shane Gibson of Vancouver you can follow him at http://twitter.com/shanegibson he has some wonderful information to share with you regarding social media for business etc. Why a great Realtor is like a mentor: How to get the most out of the relationship. I choose to use the term great instead of good because to me there is a difference, we can all be good but we can't all be great. It is what sets us apart from the rest. I am sure you all have someone in your life that you would consider a mentor, wether you know it or not, a mentor is someone who guides you and encourages you along the path in life. A lot of people tent ...
