The Sun Lakes Citrus Sharers is a group formed in 2007 in an effort to help the hungry by picking citrus from Sun Lakes homes.  Everyone knows if you have a citrus tree in your yard, the likelihood of being able to use all the citrus is small and lots of it goes to waste.  The Sun Lakes Citrus Sharers organize volunteers to pick fruit from Sun Lakes citrus trees.  The fruit is then donated to area food banks. Last year 70 volunteers picked over 11 tons of fruit from homes in Sun Lakes which was donated to United Food Bank in Mesa.  United Food Bank will provide the containers for collecting fruit again this year. It's been a LONG time since we've seen and increase in the average sales price per square foot on a home in the Greater Phoenix area.  However, I have just recorded stats showing an increase of $1.25 per square foot (on the average annual sales price) for homes sold in Sun Lakes, AZ.  This is certainly encouraging news! The chart I compiled below shows the average annual sales price of homes in the East Valley in order of price per square foot.  I've also included the change as realized over the second week in January of 2009. I love Christmas lights and even though we don't have snow in Sun Lakes, Arizona, we still have the Christmas spirit. There's one particular street in Oakwood Country Club that goes all out every Christmas and spreads Christmas cheer with a spectacular display of Christmas lights. This weekend, my husband, grandsons and I stopped out at Schnepf Farms in Queen Creek to visit our peach tree. Well, I guess it's not really OUR peach tree but rather the one we adopted for 2010. It was a fun trip as the trees in the orchard had just been pruned and there was a real fall feel in the air. Not only that, we got to meet Farmer Schnepf himself who snapped this photo of us by our tree. The boys are anxiously awaiting the Peach Festival in May next year and I'll also be inviting my clients for a day of peach picking at the orchard. All the peach trees are organic. No pesticides, fertilizer of ANY kind have been used on trees or in the orchard for over 45 years! It’s that time again! Time to get your golf cart all dressed up for Christmas and head on over to the newly remodeled Palo Verde Country Club at 5:00 on Friday, December 4, 2009.
