I posted the story a couple days ago of a reported bear wandering the streets in Sun Lakes, AZ and alluded to the possibility it was a big foot siting but alas, there really WAS a bear wandering the streets of Sun Lakes. Well, color me red! The black bear was chased over fences and eventually tranquilized and captured yesterday on a porch in Cottonwood.The bear was a male of about 2 years of age and weighing around 200 lbs. I still can't imagine a bear just showing up in Sun Lakes. There's a lot of people in the area between here and where bears live. That was one sneaky bear! Authorities have released the bear back into the mountain territory. But you know...Sun Lakes IS a very popular place to live. He may be back. Check out the video:     06/11/2010

Ok...I've heard rumors of many things that sound impossible and this is one of those. According to a report today, a bear was sited near Dobson and Riggs in Sun Lakes at about 5:30am today. A bear ...REALLY? I wonder who reported this and were they wearing their corrective eyewear? My mother-in-law lives at Dobson and Riggs in Sun Lakes. Gosh...I hope it wasn't her...the person who called that is, not the bear. Apparently this bear has been seen more than once with the last siting occurring around 10:45 am. We have black bears in Arizona. I know because we've seen them around our cabin in Pinetop, about 3.5 hours Northeast of Sun Lakes, but I've never heard of a bear here in the Valley.
