The City of Prescott and Town of Prescott Valley plan to drill wells, construct a pipeline and  pump about 8,000 acre-feet of groundwater from the Big Chino Sub-basin aquifer northwest of Paulden. The aquifer holds a total of about 6.8 million acre-feet of water. The two towns with population that totals around 70,000 people are entitled to pump the water which is only 0.118 % of the capacity of the aquifer.  The Salt River Project, SRP currently is mounting legal challenges to the constitutionality of the law that allows for this important project.In 1994 Prescott decided to sell its 7,200-acre-foot CAP allocation in exchange for rights to the Big Chino Water Ranch supply. Is anyone doing virtual tours on land?  We have found a way to show off scenic and remote land.  This method would also work for showing commercial property as well.  Here is a screen shot showing one of my listings. Notice that the red "KW" is a marker that goes with the entire property. On clicking on the red "KW" a small window pops up that lists a short description and a small photo. On clicking on the small photo, the viewer is taken to a TourFactory virtual tour that is framed on my own website. I like to write about things I am learning in the hopes that I can share some knowledge with others and also to help refine my thoughts on the process.  For the last year or so I have been working on helping Mountain Oak School in Prescott Arizona, where my 6 and 11 year old children go purchase their own property. The people who came up with this idea have hit upon something that can change politics in Washington DC forever.  Their idea is to get politicians to agree to spend 75% of their time in offices local to their constituents. They could telecommute just like many of the rest of us.   Notice that their solution favors no political party. A candidate pledging to follow this plan can use it as a means of satisfying a large number of potential voters. If one candidate signs for it, the opposing candidate will have to do the same or potentially lose the votes associated with doing the RIGHT (vs wrong)  thing. I just filed my paperwork to become a Republican Precinct Committeeman here in Prescott, Arizona.  We had our first meeting of the year today. They had the meeting room set up for about 60 to 70 people before the meeting started. As the time grew near, they brought in several more tables for four. A little while later they started adding rows of chairs along one side of the room.  The room was filled with people and candidates who were full of passion.  I had been a PC about four years ago, and our meetings were never like this. I stayed for an hour after the meeting was over and there were still people talking when I left. Last week I was asked to help a buyer purchase a bank owned home in Talking Rock Ranch. This is a high end gated golf community about 20 miles north of Prescott. Because many of these golf course properties were purchased at the height of the market in 2005 an 2006 as second homes, they were particularly hard hit by the declining market. Now we have about 80% of the listings made up of REO homes. One home in particular had been priced far below the rest and made it amazingly afordable, (priced about 35% of its original sale price in 2005). Our economy is not going to recover as long as the present administration allows their agenda to interfere with doing the things that will allow it to get better.  I believe the answer to that is a change in power in Congress so we can get the corruption out.  Movements such as "Flip this House" and The Revolution of 2010 will have an impact and will lead us to this end. I have been involved with the Tea Party here in Prescott, Arizona. We plan to vote out RINOs at all levels here. We have a meeting of Precinct Committeemen here in Prescott this Saturday. So I have been reading about Facebook Fanpages here on Active Rain. I have to say it feels a little strange creating a fanpage for yourself even if it is for my business. The idea is that the typical people who find themselves on my Facebook page are friends, family memebers and others who very likely don't give a fig about my latest listings. So I created a separate Facebook page called, Dave Conners, My Prescott Realtor for people who do want  good information about the Prescott Foreclosure market.  This blog gets automatically exported to my Facebook page along with listings, but with the added attraction of user comments. Two years ago when my little Prescott Arizona brokerage merged with Keller Williams I made the move because it was the path of least resistance. Prescott, Arizona. Patriots Day Rally - April 19th, 2009 Patriot's day at the Prescott City Courthouse was both a festive and sobering affair. Those attending carried signs supporting conservative patriotism. Prescott, Arizona which is a bulwark for Conservative views has played host to Berry Goldwater and recently John McCain launching their presidential campaigns from the steps of the Prescott Courthouse yard. There was joyful bluegrass music, and the gentle tones of Prescott's local "Sweet Adeline's" singing group.
