If you are in the vicinity of Cave Creek Arizona and are a wine lover you'll want to check out Vino 100. This unique wine shop is located at 30835 N Cave Creek Road, Suite 125 in Cave Creek. Wines in stock are under $25.00 and there are 100 varieties of wine to choose from. Wines are organized by flavor with easy-to-read description cards. For many people the experience of buying wine is frustrating because there are many choices, and the bottles are not described well, making it uncertain what the end taste result will be. In grocery stores, often the staff is unknowledgable about the wine inventory and not a lot of help as you try and make a decision. The business also offers opportunities for private wine tasting events, parties and other special events. Their facility can accomodate...

If you live in the Phoenix Arizona area and are looking for someplace unique to buy western-style furniture you may want to visit a unique retail establishment located in Cave Creek called Valerie's Furniture and Accents. Around since 1989, this store has some of the most interesting western furniture around. In tracing the roots of today’s western-style furniture, we can go back to the arrival of the Spanish in New Mexico in the 1600’s. Most of the furniture from that period was dark and heavy, frequently carved with rectangular patterns. Along came Mexican Indians, who added even more ornate religion-inspired carvings, hammered tin, and splashes of colorful paints. Western-style home decorating first became well known in the thirties and forties, during the growing popularity of vacat...

Cave Creek is one of those towns you must visit the next time you are in Arizona. Situated in Maricopa County, about half an hour northeast of downtown Phoenix, in the Valley of the Sun. First settled in the 1870s as a mining camp the town incorporated in 1986; consequently it will celebrate its 20th Anniversary this year. In fact, a visit to the Cave Creek Museum is very informative and is well worth it. Nestled on the western side of Black Mountain, the town recently took steps that will lead to the opening of hiking trails on that mountain, which hopefully will lead to its preservation as a nature reserve. In that light, in recent years Cave Creekers voted to buy, via a self-imposed tax, the several thousand acres that now form the Spur Cross Ranch Preservation area. This is a very p...

Originally Cave Creek wanted to complete a 900 foot long path six foot wide path from Hidden Valley Road to the west side of Frontier Town and have it completed for the Cave Creek 20th anniversary last July 2006.  Obviously the deadline has not been met and as I traveled through the town it looked like it still had a long way to go.The idea of providing improved pedestrian traffic in this high tourist attraction area is absolutely stellar.  Unfortunately the project management was lacking and it left those adjacent to the construction hurting for business.  The owners of the Flat Tire Shop, the Epicurean Palette, and Blue Coyote Gallery say their business is off substantially.Hopefully the project will improve and be completed soon for the benefit of local business, local residents, and...

I've spent my morning looking at sales data for resale homes in the valley.  These statistics confirm what is being said in many real estate news sources - that the quantity of homes being sold in our area has diminished, but that the actual home prices have dipped only slightly.    Following are some of the data I was able to pull together.Cave Creek - The median home value dropped from $507,000 in the third quarter of 2006 to $450,000 in the fourth quarter.     The median home value for Cave Creek at the end of 2005 was $502,000.  However I need to point out that the median home values at then end of 2004 was $365,000 so on average homes in Cave Creek have increased in value 85,000 or 23% (since 2004).   The actual quantity of homes being sold actually increased.    In the fourth quar...
