Hot Springs, Arkansas the place I call home, and what a wonderful place it is! My beautiful city takes its name from the world-famous thermal waters that flow into the historic downtown district. About a million gallons of the 143°F water issue forth daily from 47 hot springs.   The city was named the nations first National Reservation in 1832 in order to protect the hot springs. For 10,000 years before the settlement of the Europeans in the New World, Native Americans visited the area.  Hot Springs became a place where various tribes came together to enjoy the healing properties they believed were contained in the magnificent and mysterious thermal waters of the springs. In 1673, Father Jacques Marquette and Louis Joliet explored the area and discovered the springs before claiming the ...

"Our goals can only be reached through a vehicle of a plan, in which we must fervently believe, and upon which we must vigorously act. There is no other route to success." - Vincent van Gogh These words of Vincent van Gogh are ones to remember when setting your goals for the new year. I have set goals in different areas of my life for 2010, and I am developing a plan to accomplish each one. The first part of the plan is to write the goals down, and clearly define what they are. So here it goes... 1. Spiritually- I will read the entire New Testament in 2010. 2. Family- I will go see my grandparents at least once a month. I will tell my husband and children that I love them everyday (I pretty much do this part anyway). 3. Finance- I will clip more coupons and limit my eating out to 2 time...

Hot Springs Creek Greenway is progressing toward its final destination on the shores of Lake Hamilton slowly but surely.  The newest section, a one-fifth mile long asphalt trail, was dedicated in a ceremony June 1, 2007.  This section of trail is the first of two sections that will be known as Hollywood Trail, which begins at the Rotary Centennial Trailhead across from Hollywood Park.  When complete it will end at Chelsea Street and have two neighborhood connections at Euclid and Bellview streets.  The new trail covers a little more than one quarter of a mile and provides a scenic overlook of Hot Springs Creek. This beautiful new trail will benefit the downtown area from an environmental preservation standpoint, and it will provide alternate transportation, help in storm water control, p...
