Both of his parents were Loyalists, as such they fled to Halifax, Nova Scotia at the outbreak of the American Revolutionary War. She was only 15 when WWII started, but as soon as she turned the legal age back then which was 17.5 years old she joined the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force serving in the Administrative Branch. Women were banned from the front-line service, but that all changed when the SOE began recruiting females for agents. She joined the SOE (Special Operations Executive) group at age 19 in 1943. He acquired a lot of knowledge about mechanics. By the time he was 21, he was running his own machinery shop in Savannah, Georgia. Walter Owen was born in Hampstead, London back in 1888 to Alfred and Emily. His family was wealthy so he was privately educated at Clifton College. At 16 he left to start working as an apprentice engineer with the Great Northern Railway at Doncaster in Yorkshire. His apprenticeship which was 5 years completing it in 1910. He studied theoretical engineering at King’s College London where he worked for the National Motor Cab Company, his duties included the overseeing of the maintenance of the fleet’s 250 vehicles. At the age of 5 his parents signed him to a five-year contract to play a part in short movies.
