Carrollton Alabama's FACE in the Window Fest a Success Although the weather turned unseasonably cool this past weekend, it could not dampen the sweet spirit and excitement of the residents who attended the FACE in the Window Fest held on the square in downtown Carrollton, Alabama. Mom and I arrived around 8 a.m. to set up my craft booth. We saw cousins, aunts, nieces, in-laws, and distant relatives that we hadn't seen in years. The Carrollton High School Band and cheerleaders kept the crowds entertained, as did other area performers. People were line dancing and several couples danced on the square to soulful tunes.  Food vendors served burgers, hot dogs, chicken, fish, BBQ, and brisket nachos.  The Carrollton Indian mascot posed for a photo with yours truly. The population of Carrollto...

The FACE in the Window Fest will be held Saturday, October 3, in Carrollton Alabama.I'm taking a couple of days off this weekend to attend and participate in this inaugural event.Here's the history behind the FACE:My parents were born and raised in Pickens County, Alabama, and many of our relatives still live there. As a small child, one of the highlights of our family road trips was for Dad to drive us around the Pickens County Courthouse so we could see the FACE in the Window and hear how a man's face was permanently etched into the glass!Read the full story about the FACE here.
