Since moving to Madison Alabama, I have been searching high and low for a good family restaurant.  I finally found it.  Iveys Restaurant was so darn good!  Good old home cooking.  A "Meat and 3", as I like to call it.  The way I define "good old home cooking" is "Clog your arteries" good.  "Guaranteed triple bypass if you eat there too much" good.  Let's face it.  Good Southern food is by all accounts just not that healthy but it's my favorite:)  Iveys DOES have plenty of healthy choices, I just prefer the less than healthy myself.                                                                                                                                                              Our family went to breakfast at Iveys this past Saturday and it couldn't have been better.  I had a Ha...

The City of Madison Alabama unveils the new "Access Madison" Initiative.  Mayor Paul Finley and members of the Madison City Council are gearing up for Access Madison.  The new initiative is designed to improve communication, increase accessibility and encourage proactive interaction between Madison residents and our city leadership.  We all heard promises during the election last year about "bringing our city government closer to the people it serves".  Well, the promise has been kept!   Mayor Finley believes that by involving members of our fine community in our city government, the stronger and more effective our city will be.  That makes perfect sense to me.  Several component will be a part of Access Madison and these are a few of the components to kick it off: Madison City Website,...

B&B Crossroads Restaurant is off the beaten path in Madison Alabama, but definitely worth finding!  What began as a store, is now a gathering place for the locals of Madison and Limestone County.  B&B has been in business since 1945.                                         B&B Crossroads was originally opened to service the Burgreen Gin, which is now known as the Burgreen and Black Gin.  This has been a long standing tradition for local cotton farmers.                   The founders were Lloyd and Dewanda Black.  Their vision was to provide good food at a good price for people in the area.  They retired in 1996.  B&B Crossroads reopened in 2008 under the original name.  The new owners, Jack and Cindy Truett, see to it that the needs of the community are still being met.  They have done ...

In our great country, sadly, many of those that risk their lives by fighting for us, can't afford to give their children a Christmas this year.  Many soldiers can barely keep food on the table. Thankfully, our fine city of Madison Alabama realizes that and extends a helping hand from the community to these wonderful soldiers.  They deserve our help.  They fight for our freedom and risk their lives for US, so we can sleep safely in our warm beds each night.  They fight so we CAN enjoy our holidays.  They fight for our freedom.  I believe the Holiday season is all about paying it forward.                                                   We live in the highest income per capita city in Alabama.  I think many of us are able to give something.  If it is in your budget this year, please help...

If you enjoy the outdoors, you will love Madison Alabama.  Madison is a family oriented community and goes above and beyond to keep the focus on family. Madison is home to an amazing Parks  and Recreation system, with Dublin Park and Palmer Park being two of the largest.  There are currently 33 parks in this thriving community.  You will find smaller parks dotted in neighborhoods where you would least expect one, making it a wonderful surprise to find! At Palmer Park, you will find a special playground for the handicapped. No longer will these children feel left out.  Much thought went into planning this for our special needs children and adults alike.  There are swings that enable those that are wheelchair bound to  enjoy the experience of being "free" while feeling the wind blow throu...

This unique little neighborhood has been a long time favorite of First Time Home Buyers and Real Estate Investors alike. Its location is also somewhat unique, just a couple of blocks from Hwy 72 and 2-3 miles from one of Madison's major shopping areas. It is located on the Huntsville / Madison city limits off of Balch Road...(there are some strange boundaries) and is found on the MLS in the Northwest Huntsville Area. The school system supports the neighborhood via the Providence K-8 and Columbia High Schools.  http://www.hsv.k12.al.us/schools/k-8/providence/index.htm When I drove through Knox Creek Subdivision located in Madison Alabama, I took several pictures of a few homes for you to view.  It is so hard to find homes in Madison Alabama in this price range and I think Knox Creek has ...

The clubhouse at Legacy Grove which is located in the East Limestone School District and is an easy drive to Redstone Arsenal and Research Park area and is ready for use by the home owners.   The subdivision has homes ranging in the low 200's to Mid 200's.   The association dues are very low ($240 per year).   The clubhouse and pool were paid for by the developers so that association dues would remain low.   A 60X40 pool is located behind the clubhouse.   A playground will be behind and to the left of the clubhouse.   In 2009 tennis courts will be located on the other side of the parking lot from the clubhouse.  The clubhouse includes a large hosting area, kitchen and study area.   The clubhouse also has a nice back porch overlooking the pool.   The clubhouse has a vaulted ceiling in th...

Welcome home! Finally, your own piece of paradise. Upon entering Walden Subdivision in Madison, Alabama, you will notice the winding street scape, with sidewalks.       As you pass the center island and look on your left, you will notice the lake, surrounded by park benches. In the spring you will enjoy watching the wild Canadian Geese raise their young, from birth til flight. What a sight to see! The lake is fully stocked so feel free to get out the fishing pole. What a lovely place to sit, under a tree, and watch the fountain in the lake, and just simply relax. At times, you will be greeted by neighborhood children enjoying the lake, to families walking their dogs, who, on occasion, feel the need to take a quick "dip".                                                          Walki...

Have you thought about riding a bike to work in Huntsville Alabama?Submitted by: Kimberly Grant, Huntsville Real Estate AgentCell: 256-479-9664Email: Kimberly@KimberlyGrant.infoWith gas prices soaring there are a lot of people trying to come up with alternative to driving.  I have even seen an increase in bikers around Huntsville lately.  One of the Realtors in my real estate office even made a comment about going to show houses on a bicycle or a skate board.  I have a really good friend whose father is an avid biker.  He is up to about 100 miles per week.  YES!  I said 100 miles a week.  Thats 20 miles, five times a week.  WOW!!  He has a mercedes bike that will knock your socks off.  Even if you do not want to go to that extreme you still might want to consider the benefits of biking....
