Vision Board Personal And Business Goals For 2014 I've had a vision board of sorts for several years now.  Not the kind of vision board that most of us will be doing such as cutting out photos and making a collage of what we want to accomplish, but rather making use of any surface I might walk by daily, taking a photo and taping it to the side of my filing cabinet, on a mirror at home or in my car.  I can say without reservation that keeping those things important to me...things that I want to accomplish top of mind and always in view does make a difference and increas the probability of success and achievement.  The following group of photos and clippings are taped to the side of my filing cabinet at work, so I see them every day.  They represent things I want to accomplish in 2014. Th...

Buyer Beware Companies Try To Sell You A Recorded Deed After Closing Warning Don't pay twice for your Deed! This is a warning to anyone who has just purchased and closed on a home.  I can't speak to other parts of the country although I've read that this practice has taken place in other states as well, however, here in Alabama residents who've recently purchased a home have received letters in the mail on what appear to be an official U.S. Government document, but it is NOT!  The company claims for an $80 or $85 fee they will send the homeowner their newly recorded Deed on the home.  This letter does not come from the U.S. Government...it is simply a way to get people to pay for something they've already paid for and don't really need anyway.  Any homeowner can go to their County Clerk...

Harris Home For Children Fundraiser & Bowling At AMF Parkway Lanes Post provided by Your Huntsville Real Estate Resource. We missed our other @Homes Realty agents who couldn't participate, but for those of us who did attend we had a great time.  The scores we ended up with insures we won't be giving up our day job and the fun we had guarantees that we'll be back to bowl again! I haven't bowled in over 30 years and forgot how much fun it can be.  Not only did I get to take a break from real estate and spend some down time with co-workers that I've grown to love and respect, but at the same time we helped to contribute nearly $6,000 benefiting the Harris Home For Children.  The Harris Home For Children is a non-profit organization licensed through the state of Alabama providing programs a...

Buyer FAQ What Is The First Thing A New Home Buyer Should Do? Part 1 It's okay to search online for your Dream Home, however read on: More often now I meet with new clients who share that this will be their first time buying a home and ask what should I as a first time home buyer do when purchasing a home?  For my philosophy of working with buyers this is the perfect scenario.  The chance to advise a new home buyer and get them off on the right foot is key to educating them about the process and what they can and should expect working with a Realtor who puts their needs and best interest first. First things first.  When purchasing a home whether you are a first time home buyer or have been through the process before feel free to search the Internet for home styles, schools and areas tha...

Buyer FAQ What Does A Buyer Pay Their Buyers Agent? Start your new home search with your Huntsville Real Estate Resource "What does a buyer pay their buyer Agent" is a question that I continue to get and I'm always a little surprised when I do.  It serves to remind me that there are always new home buyers entering the market place that are unaware of the process of buying a home and how exactly "Agency" works. What does the home buyer pay his/her agent? The short answer is "Nothing"!  The buyer does not pay the buyer agent anything, it is the seller who pays both Realtors or real estate agents based on what was agreed on in the Listing Agreement between the seller and the sellers representative or real estate agent.  At least that is how it works in Alabama and most other states.  The b...

Buyer FAQ What Are The Housing Trends Where I should Put My Money Search the following link for homes with the current housing trends you want: Homes For Sale Huntsville & Madison Alabama As the housing market returns, home builders are clamoring to show off their latest offerings of new home construction.  Home buyers in the market place expect new construction to have cutting edge technology giving them the most bang for the buck in a safer and more energy efficient home.  Kitchens are more accommodating to larger groups. To be sure, many of the Food Channels have had an impact on what a buyer wants and expects in a new home and builders may well have finally noticed that the kitchen is where everyone ends up talking and socializing.  The heart of the home can well be seen as the kitc...

Huntsville Alabama Weather January 2014 Village of Providence The winter weather in Huntsville Alabama is considered by most to be a milder climate particularly for someone like me from Northern Illinois and yes Northern Alabama does have a milder climate, however, it does get cold here as short lived as it may be.  Like much of the country Huntsville has experienced extreme cold temps and when that happens we get to see on those rare occasions scenes like the photo below.     Frozen Fountain in the Village of Providence It was 7 degrees on my ride into work this morning and about the same yesterday.  However, for anyone wanting to move to the Northern Alabama area because of the milder climate or employment...this will all be gone shortly!  The rest of the week temperatures are expecte...

Huntsville Alabama New Life Outreach Men's Home As a local Huntsville Alabama Real Estate Agent I'm on the road a lot and get to meet people I might not otherwise have the chance to meet or get to know.  Yesterday while out delivering some long over due closing gifts in South Huntsville Alabama I passed by a car wash that I've passed several times before, but never had the opportunity to stop.  Having a few spare minutes and knowing this car wash was a hand wash and dry I decided to stop...especially since my car was on the verge of being embarrassingly dirty! I sat in my car while it was being washed and rinsed then pulled it out of the car wash to a drying area and stepped out.  It was at this time I noticed a sign on the building that said "New Life Men's Home" and asked about it.   ...

Is Downsizing To A Condominium The Right Decision For You? Is Downsizing To A Condominium The Right Decision For You? Search for all Huntsville Alabama Condominiums Downsizing to a Condominium If you are considering downsizing from your current home perhaps a condominium is the right choice for you.  Huntsville Alabama has many condo communities and one of the attractions is that Condos can be smaller with fewer maintenance issues and a great alternative when downsizing.  However with condos come HOA’s, and a special set of guidelines so it’s important that you pair up with a real estate agent familiar with details of condo ownership.  Be sure to read the association by-laws as some can be very restrictive.  Condominium The Right Decision In exchange for a monthly assessment or associ...

Updating Windows In Your Huntsville Alabama Home Browse here for your Huntsville Alabama Dream Home While it doesn’t get extremely cold for long periods in Huntsville Alabama it does get cold in the winter months and very warm in the summer.  New energy efficient windows are great looking and can have many benefits including adding great curb appeal. New windows can be expensive, but it’s a great way to improve energy efficiency.  With older wooden windows that may look good they are not as efficient as the newer windows and maintenance can be daunting.   I don’t recommend buying the least expensive replacement windows as they will most likely show wear sooner and detract from the over all appearance of your home.  Another reason for upgrading to better more attractive windows is that n...
