The charming little village of Montrose was founded in 1847 and was comprised mostly of bay front lots, that sat on the red clay bluffs high above Mobile Bay.  Montrose has retained its charm over the years and grown into a upscale residential area of Fairhope, drawing residents away from their native California or colder climates of the northeast. Search Montrose Homes for Sale in Fairhope, AL The history of Montrose is celebrated through the preservation of its natural beauty.  The stretch of Scenic HWY 98 passing through Montrose is one of the most picturesque stretches of road way in all of Baldwin County, decorated by magical grandfather oak trees and bountiful blooming azaleas.  The attractive landscape has brought on new, luxury development.  Yet, much of the real estate in Montr...

July, 2009, DAPHNE, Ala.: Two men were on the elevator when I managed to squeeze in before the doors shut at the rehabilitation facility. We exchanged nods and hellos as the elevator ambled through the floors. One of the men was wearing a cap with the Saints fleur-de-lis emblem. "How do you think they'll do this year?" I asked him, just as the elevator doors opened. He stalled a minute, letting the other gentleman exit, and with a twinkle in his eye, he made his confession. He was a Saint. An original Saint! Bill Cody. He spoke of his career as a line backer that first year when the Saints were christened a new expansion team, how he sold cars after that and was now living in Fairhope, Ala.  He was visiting his mother-in-law who was recovering from knee surgery. I was visiting my fath...

Two Separate Boards of Realtors? If you've ever searched for homes and real estate in the Mobile and Baldwin County areas of Alabama, you probably did not realize that we have two separate Multiple Listing Services (MLS) that are NOT connected.  We have the Mobile MLS System and the Baldwin County MLS System, and each has its own Board of Realtor Association.  Most agents are not members of both, because of the additional cost to the agents. I believe that to best serve clients, a membership in both Associations is needed, so I choose to be a member of both boards. Why is it Important for Your Realtor to Belong to Both Boards and MLS's?  Both MLS Systems have listings for both counties by cities. The MLS listings are also uploaded to numerous participating websites that broadcast the li...

Al Eastern Shore Real Estate: Welcome to Fairhope Description to follow will allow you to take a driving tour through the Eastern Shore. Please remember this is a partial list but we want to share our natural beauty with you. Founded in 1894 by a group of idealists from Iowa seeking a Utopian quality of life focused on common ownership of the land, Fairhope has evolved rapidly into one of the main centers of the Eastern Shore's commercial and cultural activity. Its founders believed that their progressive project had "fair hope" of coming to fruition and indeed the city's prominence in the area may well be due in part to its heritage of fortitude and perseverance. Bright flowers, brick walkways, downtown galleries and shops all add to the small town charm of this beautiful city. The pub...

Stone Creek....."It's all about lifestyle." Stone Creek is a unique community on 330 Acres within Fairhope, Alabama that combines modern-day conveniences within a scenic, natural setting. Located approximately 12 miles south of I-10 on Highway 181, Stone Creek is only a few minutes drive to downtown Fairhope. However, when considering the mixed-use master plan of the development, one will hardly ever have to leave...at most you will be able to simply hop on your bike or get in your golf cart to head to the village center! The community will not only merge homes, villas and town homes, but also retail and service-oriented business oriented to have frontage on Highway 181. Putting foreclosures into perspective, plus 2nd quarter home sales in Fairhope, Alabama  The latest epidemic, the latest outbreak, is not on our tomatoes. It's on our foreclosure-fevered brains.   The symptoms: ■ Worry that the foreclosed house in your neighborhood is going to bring down property values. ■ Worry that the foreclosured house down the street will sell before your house sells. ■ Worry that your offer on that "deal-of-the-century" foreclosure won't be accepted. ■ Worry that you will have to flee in the dead of night to avoid the neighbors as your house is foreclosed on.   Really, the only one in trouble is the person with the last symptom.   Most appraisers and Realtors differentiate between a foreclosure and a normal sale when valuing property, so unless your street is line...
