Foreclosures have a one year right of redemption which means an owner has one year from the foreclosure date to redeem their old property. To redeem they must pay the foreclosure amount(which is in most cases a lot higher than the sale amount of the new owner) as well as 12% interest and any necessary repairs to the property that the new owner paid for.
