The Mystery Bird Revealed   Jeff Bouton a Leading Bird Expert and Speaker did Identify the Mystery Bird... Not an Owl or an Eagle... The Marsh Hawk!   This is an immature (likely female) Northern Harrier - formerly "Marsh Hawk". They one of the only hawk species to utilize their hearing to locate small rodents in tall vegetation so they share the facial disk (aka ruff) that owls have. This ring of stiff feathers functions like a parabolic dish blocking sounds from the side and magnifying the sounds directly ahead of you. If you cup your hands behind your ears you can duplicate this affect!

Shoot Low Sherriff they're riding Shetlands... So I'm driving down the road minding my own business when suddenly I see ahead of me a very strange sight...   In Homer Alaska like other towns across the nation people love their dogs and drive them around in their trucks... But I have never seen someone driving around with a small pony in the back of the truck The head was bobbing , the hair was flying and the neck going back and forth.... It looked Real.....Really!   Upon closer investigation this was no pony...maybe a one trick pony... it was a stuffed pony for children to ride!   So there you go... things are not always as they appear...it is always good to take a second look!

Or dark chocolate....   Mary Ann Rowe is a fixture in the title world... She works at First American Title and before that worked at Kachemak Title... She is the Title Queen..... She knows where all the easements are and the encroachments and a few squatters...   She Has And Is A Tremendous Boon To Our Community And Has Served On All Kinds Of Boards And Helped Out At Fundraisers And Even A Realtor Convention Or 2 Or 23..... A Moment in Homer Alaska The other day I was out taking pictures of a new listing... they had horses and they were all brushed and shiny I came back into town and was driving on the what we call the bypass road... which would make most people laugh... it is technically highway 1 but it is 2 lanes going through town to the Spit... anyway.... I caught a glimpse of something and I thought it was a horse on the highway...but no it was a big shiny moose...  I turned around and saw that it was head down towards the inlet so I did too.... parked my car and waited for it to come to me.... beautiful day, beautiful moose and a beautiful moment ...   The Sun was Shining, the wind gentle through the high grass, birds nesting on the wetlands...  The Moose looked like she was healthy happy and almost...
