My go-to topics are... biblical theology, world politics, modern-day radical ideology and its effects, a story about a nice group of lesbians that I've met in Greece and spicy boneless chicken wings, but NEVER anything sports related as that could be very controversial and highly sensitive.

I do not discuss sports with anyone.  If they choose to engage in a discussion with me about sports, I will actively listen to honor and respect. 

Sports are small in comparison to the massive number of other things in the world to find common ground.

Depends on if sports is a part of their likes/hobbies.  And of course I would because I love sports.

In Denver it is common to talk about our sports.  Few are not into sports.

Yes I do, and one time I was gifted a stadium seat from Old Tiger stadium in Detroit from a couple I sold a Historic House in Frederick to. They were moving from Michigan and I told them I had been a big Tiger fan prior to DC getting another baseball team.

Not really. Then again, I don't discuss sports with anyone outside of my business life. They would need to bring up the subject for me to engage.

If the conversation goes to sports, I am willing to engage. Mostly, my clients want to talk about real estate.

If I see some sports paraphernalia on the walls, I may bring it up.  I try to usually limit it to their golf game.

I try to avoid sports especially soccer in our Latin community! 😅 I’d rather ask about lifestyle, family, or favorite places. That way we find a positive connection without any debates.

When speaking with clients, Real Estate is the subject. Some may wonder into other topics, but the main purpose for meeting or talking is Real Estate.  Now after the closing, we can talk about other things 

I let the customer lead the way on discussion subjects and then follow. Here in the Chicago area sports may be the common ground given the number of professional teams. When in Florida college football was a big deal with Florida and Florida State plus more recently the emergence of the University of Central Florida and University of South Florida. And on the East Coast the University of Miami is very popular.

My clients are my friends and hopefully we share common interests.  I agree about the common ground.

Not really.  I am not necessarily interested in many sports and can stay abreast of what's going on in the world should the subject come up. 

Right now I will be listing a SFH with football fans.  We have discussed where they will go when showings are schedule despite having 4 TVs going every Sunday during the remaining days of the season.

I watch maybe two sports ball games a year and it's not something I've followed since they stopped representing America and American values.

Sometimes. We live in an area that's big into college sports and of course the Carolina Hurricanes. I ask questions and let them get excited telling me their favorite team or team win.

If my clients are interested in sports, I will discuss and learn more about it. I listen to their interests. And if they are tracking teams, or football or racing, I will use sport analogis about how important it is to review our buying or selling goals.

It does depend on the client, I am having lunch with a past client today and if he brings it up, I will for sure.
