I use Times Roman Andrew Mooers | 207.532.6573 . When it comes to color it depends on the point I am trying to make. 99.9% of the time I use black.

I always love Helvetica which is not always available. Often times using Arial. Yellow and black are the easiest to read signage on the fly.

I still hold that Comic Sans is the best font in the world!
Aside from that, I use Times New Roman or Arial, depending on the program, as those are typically the clearest and easiest to read.
As far as color goes, nothing beats black text on a white or off-white background. When placing text over images I usually use white color text and a light grey, around 80% transparent, background just to make the text stand out a little more and not get lost on some images.

Thank you for this question & a chance to share Andrew Mooers | 207.532.6573 ...I do not use small font nor large for both lack an intimate, inviting & welcoming connection to the reader/viewer. On colors besides black, I used to visit the rainbow and saw the plus & minus of it all. Right now, I use red to emphasize a point or two.

I like trying different fonts and colors including blue, red and green for various marketing pieces but my "go to" font is Arial.

WTF, indeed. Endless possibilities but choice of font can make a favorable first impression or leave a disagreeable lasting one. I continue to observe what happens around me, I see "lots". Is the message readable? That's important initially. Things go from there.

I may have to play around with some fonts! I like George and Sans Serif. I like black ink because it's user friendly. I'm not overly fond of posts with all kinds of different colored text in it. Makes my eyes bounce.

It depends on the medium. Times Roman was originally developed because it was easy to read in the newspaper (the Times), the serifs (tails on the ends of the letters) made it easy for the reader to follow the horizontal lines, and very importantly, because it was 'thin', and used less ink thereby saving the Times money.
In electronic media, where you're viewing on a backlit screen, thin serif fonts like Times, Garamond, Caslon, Bodoni don't hold up as well, as the thin serifs tend to get washed out. Some serif faces, like American typewriter, or Rockwell have been designed to adjust for that.
On electronic media you're better off with thicker traditional fonts like Helvetica, Arial (which is just a different brand-name of Helvetica), Futura, Eurostile, even Comic Sans (which is more cartoony)...
Can you tell that I was a graphic designer who worked with lots of typestyles in my distant past?

Helvetica & Optima are my go-to's - one for writing letters and the latter for emails. I may be boring but, black just shows up better on white paper/web pages. It's easier to read, looks professional and clean. I do like larger fonts for clarity - at least 12, preferably 14 or 16.

My default fonts are Calibri for email, and Arial for marketing.
WHEN I wrote for Starscroll (little rolled up horoscopes that published for 43 years, you'd see at grocery checkout) we HAD to have Helvetica so the character count was accurate to fill the column space. In the mid 90s we had to download that font, we didn't have the rich variety we have now!
JUST KNOW AGENTS. If you use Comic Sans for ANYTHING in the 2020s, you WILL be judged! LOL

Being easy to read is a must. And large enough. It drives me crazy when people post in small fonts that someone with 20/20 vision cannot read.
