I have no clue about farmland, but I can tell you that depending on the neighborhood, 1 acre here in San Diego can run you between:
$100,000 - $2.5 million per acre without utilities in many cases.

I do not grow veggies, but I do grow apples, lemons, limes, avocados, passion fruit and oranges throughout my property. Nothing like fresh orange juice for breakfast that was on my trees 2 hours ago. 🍊🌞

Not a clue about farmland, there isn't any for sale near here, but we do have plenty of farms out here.

I have thought about a vegetable garden over the years, but mainly to avoid the chemicals and whatnot they use on the stuff they grow these days and my general distrust for monsanto.  But I have more of a black thumb than a green one and past attempts have been "less than fruitful" to say the least.  Of course, my ground really is not conducive to growing much of anything and I have too many critters out here to defend against.  I do have an orange tree and an almond tree though and I got my first decent harvest of almonds this year.  Usually the f'in squirells get them all.

Near our mountain house (10 or 20 miles to the south of here, in the flatlands), raw acreage is $10,000 to $20,000 per acre.  Obviously higher when there is water on the property (creek or stream).

Off and on over the years, we have had vegetable gardens.  Corn, cayenne peppers, okra, tomatoes, all of it.  Right now, the only thing we are growing is tomatoes.  The reason is lack of fencing... way too many critters here, everything from wild boars, possums, coons, foxes, to black bear.  They would eat anything we plant!

I have been out of the game for a while Andrew Mooers | 207.532.6573 so I just googled it. Note the date however.

“Overall, the statewide average cropland value moving into 2023 was $2,863 per acre,” says Parman. “The most expensive farmland in North Dakota remains in the southern Red River Valley region at an average of $5,494 per acre while the least costly is in the northwestern region at $1,399 per acre.”Apr 4, 2023

Millions, if you could find it. See the Fort Mohave Indian Tribe owns 99.9999% of the farm land in our area, it's not for sale and they grow cotton and alfalfa on the land.

Nothing is listed of that kind in my area. There is a doctor in LA who I've reviewed his irrigated, leased farm land that IS privately owned, it's worth millions of dollars but he's not selling.

CRE land in my area is about 200-300 per acre with utilities.

An average that varies greatly as we travel across Wisconsin.

Soil conditions, competition with urban sprawl, and climate will all weigh into the demand and price of land.

Tough to farm profitably in the North with early frosts limiting most crops other than grassland hay and pasture, and of course livestock is limited due to large predators.

One of those areas where you need to sit down with an expert like those at WMS, to discuss your needs and the potential of various areas of the state.

Sorry, but I have no clue. I live in an urban area. The cost probably also depends on what part of the state you are looking at.

While I have planted a vegetable garden in the past, I live on a fairly small that is now given over to my wife's love of flowers.

Andrew, no vegetable garden.  We buy organic food and beverages as much as we can and interestingly enough the prices for those(already high compared to non-organic) haven't seem to have gone up much.

As far as farm ground we track it very closely.  Sharon owns some farm ground in Boone County just NW of Indy and farm ground has gone from around $10,000 per acre two years ago and is now selling between $18,000 to $26,000 per acre.  Lilly was buying farm ground at $50,000 an acre to get the 600 acres needed for their new pharmaceutical production campus; and nearby Lebanon is close to getting a 6,000 acre high tech project going buying up farm ground like crazy.  It has created a boom, and further demand has been created as those farmers who sold now are looking to buy new ground as part of their 1031 tax exchange.  Throw in strong pressure from solar farm developers, who is spite of a two year freeze on solar development by the county government are still actively wanting to sign leases taking more farm ground out of production.

Andrew, Purdue University releases a comprehensive survey of farmers every August with details on farm ground prices and cash rent by regions throughout the state of Indiana.  It is an excellent publication!

Home again, home again...

Wouldn't have a clue what a full acre of anything would cost in my area, let alone "farm land".  I live in full-blown Suburbia, right in the suburbs of Chicago, and you have go quite a distance to find farmland.  We speak in city lots which are often 30x130... and those can go for $200-$300,000 unimproved.

Depends on home many acres of it you are borrowing.  The last closed deal we had was around $5500 per acre for 24 acres. The smaller the parcel the more per acre.  Nothing here less than 5 acres would be considered "farm" land.   A 1 acre residential lot can go between $20,000 and $500,000.

A decent 2 acre parcel with ocean view and utilities can be upwards of $7-800,000.  It may be zoned AG but it's highly unlikely it will be farmed.  These lots become "gentleman estates" with a few fruit trees to pass the AG sniff test.  Real farmland comes in larger sized like 50 acres or more, and that ain't cheap either.

Yes we grow a lot of our own food on our 7.5 acres... fruits and veg, and working on the nuts too.

varies depending on location in the state.  South georgia is much cheaper than central or north ga.  And better farmland.  Go figure.

I don't have a vegetable garden or a green thumb. I'm listing a home with a nice vegetable garden in the backyard. They were going to pull it up assuming people would want grass. I let them know it can actually be good for resale. So many people want a garden these days due to food scarcity and food prices. They also have fruit trees.

As farm land is purchased for development, the cost continues to rise here in Illinois. Much of the development is now in areas considered xurbia which is beyond the ring of suburbs around Chicago.

I have a veggie garden and a greenhouse. And as you know, there's no real answer to how much any land costs per acre. It depends on where it is, how it will be used, how much of it there is, etc. The more land for sell, the less per acre.
