I love tacos and can't stand wings.
I don't even understand their appeal?

...and I worked in 7 different night clubs ...they were abundant.

But I don't like most sauces nor scrawny bird-bits LOL

We aren't having a SB party but I like to have something for dinner that day to mark the occasion.

I found a special on wings so will being doing baked wings and pizza. I stay away from the taco bar because it's too much work and can be messy.

Another option is sausage sandwiches with red peppers and onion, burgers or sliders if your weather is good enough to grill.

we don't do a super blowl party anymore, but in the past we hosted a "souper super bowl party" with a variety of soups- vegetable, taco soup, broccoli cheddar and chicken noodle with a bunch of crackers, tortilla strips and cornbread.  And leftover soups generally freeze well for future use.

Actually just saw that the price of wings was down 5% (year over year) due to an increase in inventory and a better supply chain.

If the cost of wings is a concern, I'd suggest asking your guests to chip in, but then be prepared for some push-back with shoulder pads.

I just heard a news story that said the wholesale price of chicken wings is down sharply from a year ago. Seems like the retailers are getting a fat mark-up.

I noticed chicken legs were cheaper than wings. Go figure. Chex mix, Cheetos, etc. for snacks as examples. For the entrees: There is so much junk to choose from. Just visit the walk-in freezer at the local market. A friend is serving spaghetti at half time. ME: Chinese food. Remember, with this food you get hungry an hour later even into the night too.

Chili is my first choice. Many years ago my wife made chili and just before we were gong to consume it, I got a call from a buyer of a multi-family complex who kept me on the phone for hours. Missed the game and he defaulted on his contract. As a reminder that you have to reserve some private time, we have it every Super Bowl and do not answer the phone.

I'm not a big fan of wings. You can always do a buffalo chicken dip. I like Susan's suggestion of a potato bar. You can also have people bring something. I went to the butcher's market yesterday and was shocked at the prices. My husband usually picks things up and hadn't really mentioned how much the prices went up. We're probably having hamburgers with some healthy sides.

I'm hosting as well.  The way my group does it is everyone brings a side and/or snack and something they want to grill.  Sometimes the host has a theme or makes a centerpiece dish that we shop around, but that's rare and only one of our circle does that.
