Arctic Cotton from Glidden is a warm, neutral paint color and very light. White trim goes well for contrast.

As others have stated, a warm white - not a bright white will work best.

Whatever you choose, all the best with the renovation.

Off-white seems to be the safe & neutral ground for this subject.

That seems to be the new neutral these days, Carla. And fortunately there are many shades of white from cool to warm tones. I'm about to help clients make a similar decision before we list.

Is it possible to have 'Extra White' that doesn't bring back that hospital look? White cabinets & trim with warmer colored walls is what I'd do.

We just painted a home and sold it using gray, but not the blue-gray that has been prevalent.  We used a light gray with brown undertones with white ceilings, trim and cabinets.  It went over very well and sold very quickly.  (It was a Dunn Edwards color called, Great Gray).

I hate white walls.  I've had while walls and I'll never again have white walls.  In 30 years I've never ever had a client like white walls.

Beige, taupe, cream.... ANYTHING warm and inviting vs. white.

Because they have already named apricot the color of the year for 2024 I think I'd do with that.  It's earthy and ahead of it's time setting the trend.  Our builder has always gone with "setting the trend" with spec houses.

It 'used to be' 'Navajo White' anyone remember?
Not hospital white and not offwhite, just a little more eggshell . . .

I guess for a small house the brighter white could be OK

the new owner will paint it their style!

Hi Carla,

One of our investors buys small 3 bedroom 1 bath National Homes and they do a remarkable job with the kitchen and colors.  The last two flips this Fall the buyers stated they bought their homes  because of the colors and their staging.  If interested I could email you the mls listing sheets with the pictures as their flips sell much quicker with more offers than an owner occupied seller.  It looks like you are getting lots of great advise.

I've found that each market will have its own opinion as to what is popular.  Asking your paint store is the best advice I've seen as what works here might not work there.

Pure white can be harsh and sterile. So let's add a few drops of green, blue, red to make it a very muted blush for color warmth Carla Freund . You are in NC.. ask the paint store what is a big mover. Might not be the same trend in other areas we all hail from in Active Rain think tank. Are you stenciling all the walls too with "You'll Forever Be My Always" or "Live, Love, Laugh"? Don't you love the trendy expressions telling us how to live our lives? Make it classic not trendy. Priced right, clean and available tops color wheel choices.

Earth tone is always a good cnoice, and in our area we are still seeing grays -- but in very light shades.  Dark is out -- unless it is used on the cabinets.

I have never had a home painted in all white.  Too stark for my taste and most buyers as well. HD has a color called 'granite dust' that's kind of a warm color with grey undertones. I'd call it a neutral.

The RIGHT CHARLOTTE REALTOR!

Funny but, I had two of my bedrooms painted last week. They were a horrible 'mustard' color that they were when we bought in 2020. I finally got the rooms decorated and chose a color to match my decor. I chose a super light gray.

As it happens, I asked my painter what the go-to whole-house paint is for his clients who are flipping homes or prepping for selling. He said a pale grey, similar to what we used is, hands-down the go-to color in 2023.

While I have seen the white-on-white for a few years, most who I know who went white-on-white, wound up adding color later. The white has been described as 'too sterile' or 'contractor's blah' and buyers feel like they have to paint their whole house after they buy the home.

I would go with the pale grey and the white trim. I think that will be the safest 'crowd-pleasing' choice!

Good luck, whatever you decide!

Hi Carla- there are so many whites you can use. I've been partial to Benjamin Moore's White Dove because it  is not so stark that it can still warm up a room.

Grey is out.

Creamy whites and light mochas with complimentary trim for paint.

Kitchen cabinets that sell in San Diego seem to be natural wood Shaker Style or a more modern style in white.

I do still see Cherry Woods and Walnut but they seem to work better in larger kitchens.

I prefer all white and the way it makes everything seem to be bigger and brighter.

My wife likes to add a bit of color, especially accent walls.
