I am always skeptical of such broad statements and would need a lot more information to offer an opinion. Are they saying that is the case currently or is it based on future projections and assumptions. Some facts supporting that statement would be helpful.

What kind of fire risk? House, auto, wildfire, cooking, space heaters, explosion, playing with matches or all of the above?

Could be true as an estimate from some "educated prognosticator". A quick internet search brought up this article from CNN in today's news: These are the places with the highest wildfire risk in the US
Over 10% of the U. S. population lives in California and we know extreme fire danger is found there.

As Carla Freund brought up what kind of fire risk? That being said if it is forest fires, yes I would believe it we have a lot of forested areas with high populations around them. Last year we had a heat dome after that most of BC was on fire, then in Nov we had massive floods.

What area?
To 'average that' nationally is weird, if that's what it is.

Sure, but I'd venture to guess it's due to some densely populated cities being in "fire country". Los Angeles is the most densely populated area in the country and the entire area is a tinder box.

well everyone is at fire risk if they have a house. Now the % of risk would be less than 1% to significantly more depending on maintenance. If you have squirrels in the attic checking on your wires it probably increases the risk.

Fire risk is increasing in many parts of the world due to dryer conditions.

house fire? forest fire? My state does control burns in forests to lower the risk.

I'm with Alan here in the Chicago area. We don't have wildfires here but we sure have our fill of house fires with no smoke detectors.

How many folks have a grill in the back yard?
Have a mower with an internal combustion engine.
Have ever lite a candle?
I think they understated the alarm.
Alarmism is the new media religion.
A related article in last evenings news was 'everyone' is living is living in fear. (Tops market in Buffalo) The intent was gun control, but the reality is we have all just emerged from a pandemic that threatened to kill us all.
