I do.  I'd hazard a guess that 80% or more do not see much (if any) value in NAR.  I think that there might be a slight battle over the "their ethics make us better" statement, but in my view (and thus the way the world really works LOL) is that all the ethics training in the world isn't going to make an unethical person ethical.  All the fines aren't going to make people stop pre-marketing.  They just find ways around it.  NAR may have been useful once, but they no longer have any impact on the avergage person, who thinks we're all "realtors" (commercial and residential) because it's a job title not a membership thing.

It's like Zillow.  They're now a DIRECT competitor, even though they swore up and down for years they would never compete.  Agents still love to spend tens of thousands per month feeding the beast and don't see or care how they empower Zillow to put them out of business.

I would definitely vote to get rid of the NAR.

I do not think or believe the majority of members would vote the same.

If you took the vote near dues time, probably 80%.  Maybe 60% or so any other time of year.

Why not substitute every member of Congresss in place of NAR?  To me, it's a moot point since the benefit of membership(access to information) is not voluntary.

I'm not sure that I have heard enough people state any facts on NAR in my office to be honest. I think I am more vocal because I blog & see, hear more stuff.

I'd love to dump them.

Kathleen,

Mercifully, we did not have to be part of NAR in commercial real estate!  It depends is my answer, but I have a feeling that is would be over 50%.  A

I really don't see the need for any associations in our business anymore! It seems the only purpose today other than ethics is that electronic lockbox that only Realtors have the right to use. Kind of like we were the only ones that had access to the MLS or local listings and people had to engage with us.

So once they start allow any license agent to the electronic lockbox - it's game over!!!

Boy, that's a tough question. Maybe 60% for disbanding BUT a persuasive argument would have to be made for doing such

Agents should stop and reflect on the many benefits that we gain from having a full time lobbying team working for us along with the many other benefits that we gain from NAR.

Imagine where this profession would be without a voice in every capital in the nation.

The couple hundred that NAR charges is chump change compared to other things agents spend money on.

Practicing gratitude is important in all areas of life, including this one.

I have no idea. However, many would vote to eliminate the dues.

If NAR can't be self supporting, liquidation would be appropriate.

Kathleen, if one was to go by those who comment in the Q/A section routinely on NAR I would think it would be over 75% who would vote to disband NAR, but those who disagree are more likely to comment in general terms than those who support.

It could be very close across the fruited plain just like the last couple of national election cycles when considering nation wide, in my opinion.

If there is a vote to disband I am wondering if the REALTORS® in WI, MI, PA, and GA,  if their state organizations will  follow the NAR Constitution when it comes to voting procedures???     ^_~

Zero %.
Why?  What will replpace it?
Will the real estate sales process now be dictated by ZDevil?
Does the prospect of a $2,500 flat fee appeal to the majority of agents?
Agents embrace routine and do not welcome disruption which is how we got into this mess.
There are None with the courage to walk alone. Those have already departed.
hmmm, a USA real estate portal on Aliaba or Banggood would be an insteresting prospect and could create a platform anonymous to all except the government of China.
I keep floating ideas out there and the response to them are the basis for my Zero % with the courage to take proactive steps.

I am not sure how many are even paying attention to what NAR is doing or not doing for that matter. I would say more than half in general and nearly all of those who are paying attention.

At least our equivalent to NAR in Canada provide us with a National MLS which prevent Zillow-like companies from succeeding!   I still don't like being extorted.
