I'm not seeing that trend, esp emoji's which look unprofessional in blogs posts.

Not seeing it personally.  Like Debbie Gartner I don't find emojis to be professional.

Bad Trend, Yes, IMO.

Have not heard nor seen this. Maybe some people are trying to 'practice' blogging now from other platforms. Still going with pics, good advice, wordy post.

Maybe that trend explains the tons of new emojis in Q&A. 😋

To answer your Q, it all depends... like other forms of real estate advertising.  In your ex. we target the structure of the blog to the blog's goal, purpose and audience. Different approaches may apply. Blogging is not one size fits all situations.  If posting a market report, will want those charts and graphs.  A blog about a listing needs those pics, and so on.

Annette,

I like a professional  looking post.  I do not like emoji's for blogs, I feel they cheapen the look and feel of a post.  Emojis are fine between friends and on texts.  We deal with big luxury firms like LMH's fine wine and spirits which include Dom Perignon...A

As long as the message is communicated....Less is more is the rule for me. As for pictures...where appropriate they speak loads

So as a reader/consumer I am not interested in seeing blogs with lots of text and emojis. Nor am I interested in writing that kind of blog...

But those kinds of blogs are probably not meant for me. Which means there must be an audience for them.

As for bad/good trend - that depends on who is judging the trend. A person who is comfortable doing what they're doing and doesn't want to change, or a person whose way of communicating is the "new" way.

Have not 👁👁 that trend yet Annette. Emoji's have their place and can 🐝 fun! I prefer not to use them in a blog post but am 👁👁ing them a bit 👂 in the Q & A.

Too many pictures can be distracting and too many words are a turn off for me and emojis? Maybe an occassional one

I do see lots of text on several of the ultra-competitive areas I follow, but not necessarily less pictures or any emojis.

The pages are not simply a wall of text, they are well formatted, and often contain data tables and charts.

It seems, to compete on competitive areas, well constructed and researched pages are needed.

Every SE under the sun wants one thing - traffic.  They get it from showing content people are looking for.  Good, keyword rich content will continue to win the day.
