I just saw where Cheers is closing it doors because they didn't pay rent and are being evicted.  Hard to pay rent when the government is keeping you closed and you can't make a living.  I feel for people who are not able to earn a living because of the pandemic.  Every politician is blaming someone else.

At least it's only on owner occupied.  Gives some incentive for tenants to pay the rent.

I'm not sure how helping people stay in their homes until they are allowed to go to work again is political, but okay.

There are questions about the long-term effects of the foreclosure ban, mortgage forbearance, halting evictions. The short term effect is that some homeowners, who are unable to make their mortgage payments due to job loss or other legitimate reasons, can know that their home will not be lost to foreclosure...for a while.

Political? It is possible to politicize almost anything these days, Caroline Gerardo

Do we want to discuss the extra 1/2% that these home owners will have to pay if they are able to eventually refi there mortgages?

No, not in my opinion.  It just seems to be a date future that might even be delayed.  We don't need to create a stampede of investors dumping their homes onto the market.  That is what leads to a drastic drop in prices.

Well, something has to be done but I had to chuckle. In my area another moratorium goes into effect right about that time from Dec to Jan 31st because of the weather. No evictions around the holidays.

I'd rather see this long term ban instead of the 1 month extensions every month. There isn't an easy answer or solutuion.

Couple of things come to mind. First, all decisions boil down to one person making them and two, seasoned systems that work should not be fixed....

Many owner occupied single family homes can be saved from foreclosure with forebearance done right if the home owner is back to work full time. I like the delay in owner occupied, especially for hud. But listing and selling reo, holding off the vacant homes or investment properties needs to stop. Let the banks secure and sell off anything abandoned or vacant.

Are you askibg, "CAn votes be bought?"

Every politian belives this to be true.

The scramble is all about who can take credit for it.

As we are seeing....someone is going to get caught in the gears. What measure will be used to determine if the cure was worse than the disease.

The banks won't take a break. Insurance companines and taxes....no break there.  Someone WILL get stuck with unpaid utilities.  The game plan is to make sure the casualites occur in the group for which there is liltte social support.....you know,,,the one that is systemicly being deplatformed.

If politics didn't exist, this might be a great world to live within, haha.  It seems like politics always has a way of messing things up.

A complicated issue when it is a blanket decree. Owners must pay their mortgages and sooner or later the piper must be paid. It is a snowball down the hill event and there is no easy solution when people can't work!
