Nope... why would I do that? I've already lived abroad in several countries and while it was a great experience, at the end of the day, I'm an American (a proud American) and I've learned there's no better place to live. And one thing I learned living overseas is that no matter how long you live there and how well you acclimate, you are always seen as an ex-patriot. I'd rather be a patriot in the USA.

No. Many countries won't let anyone in right now due to Covid-19. We had family members that moved to New Zealand a few years ago, and they like it there.

The how: Had considered a dual residency situation in the past with a investment/business visa, different countries, different criteria. If one doesn't meet the investment/business criteria (or even if there is no investment/business based visa for a foreigner in certain countries), but has a much needed skill-set like a doctor has, they could settle almost anywhere they desire.

Yes, there are other ways, marriage, family origin, etc.

My wife's friends went to Bangalore (India) before this thing started.  They, plus my wife's family in Mangalore, say it is even worse there than here in the U.S.A. (the lockdown, closed stores, the mask mania).  But, they don't have the riots, their historic monuments are not being destroyed, they aren't turning against their own police departments.

I know someone who is thinking of leaving Florida.  Our once great State has had a huge influx of northern liberals move here.  They are voting for the same politics that ruined the cities they fled from.  We are probably good for 2, maybe 3 more years.

Which begs the question:   If you were looking to move to another U.S. State, where would you go?

Not out of the US...that to me is high risk and found out to be when an issue happens and then too late to do anything about it. Instead, move to another part of the U.S. for a different experience...

Oh yes, and for many years and even moreso now.  I think they are nicer in Canada and have better healthcare. So I may live there in the summers and maybe Florida or Bermuda or something in Winter.  But, many years from now.

Oh, and I want my own pool in the warm weather home.

I grew up in a peaceful small town in rural PA. Honest, hard-working people, friendly neighbors, community spirit, school pride, holiday parades, farmers markets, no crime, no traffic jams, no pollution, back yard gardens.

For my career as a computer design engineer, I moved to a big city to work for a big computer manufacturer.  For retirement, I would move to a small town or rural area.  I own rural land in several places. With the internet, there are ways to earn income online without living in a big city.

SpaceX is deploying thousands of Starlink satellites for high-speed internet service from any location on earth. I think this will make rural living more attractive.

Leaving the US has never occurred to me and I know several people who tried it and moved back within a couple of years. Panama, Costa Rica and Cayman Islands are just some locations they went to but on returning, the common thread was "It's a nice place to visit but I would not want to live there. There is no place like the US".

I don't see us leaving Florida at this point in our lives but we have talked casually about moving to the mainland. Still debating that, though. Florida has pretty much something for everyone and we have seen an influx of people leaving California and some other states to move here. We live on the Space Coast and the space program is booming so lots of good paying high-tech jobs here. We love the proximity to Orlando, about an hour drive so close enough to the big city but far enough away that we don't have big city problems. I grew up in PA but could never move back north with the long, cold, snowy winters...in fact, that was one reason we moved to Florida, to escape that type of weather.

Nope.  The US is still the best place to be.  SoCal has the best weather.  I love Ireland and Scotland, but the winters and excessive rain is not my thing.  Fun to visit, would love to have a vacation home there, but not live there 365.  Plus, they have this insanely stupid rule about no guns.  Even their cops are unable to protect the citizenry.

I have thought about a nice island in the Bahamas, but first there is battle to win. A lot of those people, that one could call the silent majority need to decide if they want to fight to keep the US free and and defeat socialism and marxism.

I hear Maine is a good place. People are well space, a friend told me the properties are low cost, the land around them is like second, third helpings of property get added on no charge. Oh and I hear the people are down to Earth and friendly, care about each other and the small town atmosphere makes a person feel cared for and special. Maine has more second homes than any other state for a reason. Many are becoming primary locations and if they have high speed Internet broadband connections, well now, you're golden. COVID19 is not so bad, just depends on where you are stuck on the big spinning blue and green marble.
