Been using Zoom for over 4 years. The risk has always been there. Hackers are welcome to my meetings if they bring referrals.

Most of my zoom meetings are fairly secure, however last weeks AR meeting did have one person attend that did not identify themselves, it does have me a bit concerned.

Kris,

I've read many similar items.

I tend to agree with Thomas J. Nelson, Realtor e-Pro, CRS, RCS-D, Vets   Hackers are potentially dangerous, but really no more than any other technological vehicle used mindlessly.

If you click on an executable file that looks like Zoom, but isn't, then you're giving access.... It's similar to email.  Click on something you shouldn't and you've got a problem.

The prophylactic response should come from the user, though Zoom should diligently investigate and remedy all known scourges.

I understand if you keep it closed, and allow only those invited, it is more secure.

Sure it's a concern but hopefully Zoom is working diligently to get some security measures in place.

Hackers hack no matter what platform is used. Since Zoom has gotten a lot of attention with many new users, one would think that they would fix whatever security issues there are.

And as Thomas J. Nelson, Realtor e-Pro, CRS, RCS-D, Vets said, they are welcome if they give a referral, lol.

I love Zoom. Hackers hack. That's what they do, regardless of the technology.

Those 'Shark Tank' folks have the shorts in a wad knowing so many are 'spoofing'  Seen On Shark Tank' with out paying them.  So Mr Herjavac, a security guru, feels personally  insulted.

Conducting business on the Internet is NOT more dangerous than riding one's bicycle on the same surface as 40MPH traffic, and folks to it every day....often with tragic outcomes.

In the land of the free those are the choices we get to make.

Kris,

This morning our friend and UCLA professor is giving his lecture via ZOOM.  There are fixes in place that he has put into effect, and we have a feeling that all will be well for his class.  I think very few will be interested in a graduate school MBA lecture...A

So, this is about the 10th time I've shared this -

#1 - ALWAYS find the source - not the 'reporting' source!

#2 - With anything 'Big Brother,' I tell everyone that I have nothing to hide and anyone can listen in to what I have to say any time!

#3 - If you've ever used Zoom, you know how easy it would be to control unwanted users (which is all the real FBI warning was about).

That said, these articles are sensationalizing the REAL FBI report. Their very simplistic warnings are because users of Zoom shared their dial-in information publicly or with someone who later has an ax to grind with someone on the call. It's quite harmless - but, not according to those sites that you shared. It is SO easy to disable an 'intruder' on a Zoom conference - I mean within seconds.

This is what is wrong with journalism these days - they embelish, they lie, they fabricate and they offer their OPINION. Journalism is dead in MHO!
