Pretty much the same as last year, Rae Dolan I use pen and paper. At this point in my life, I just look to do a maximum of 10 - 12 sales which adds a good supplement to my retirement income.

Plan by quarter for me. I do not do a 'forecast'. I leave that for the idiots on the internet & mass media.

 I tend to not lean hard on financial predictions... although I loosely put together some financial projections on a spreadsheet.  Try to maintain the mindset of creating and optimizing opportunities as they arise.

Rae ~ I use a spreadsheet to track my results on a monthly & YTD basis, so that the goals I set are broken down into smaller chunks and I know if am ahead or behind them.

As for goals, I start basically start out with transaction goals, etc., and then map out the activities that I control on a yearly calendar; client events, mailers, calling my sphere, whatever.  For these things I have a spreadsheet with budgeted amounts vs. actual expenditures so I control costs.

Wow! That is a lot of questions in one package. (hint)

I start with 3 categories. One is 'new stuff.' I hinted at one element, Ring-Ring agent earlier. This is largely marketing.

The second is strategic. Identifying the portal of access to new business.

The third is logistical, Make sure the band is assembled, rehearsed when 'our time' comes.

Forecasting is important. The tricky part is the last 10% of effort results in the best outcome. Most agents efforts cease at 70%.
