Oh wow this is a great question!

I've read over many home warranty contracts and I can't recall seeing that kind of coverage specifically named.

Weeks has your answer, reach out to the reps for the companies and find out.

You may also wish to go to a company that services elevators and see if you can procure a service contract directly from them.

I do not. I have had clients with an elevator and they had an independent policy. I believe they had it serviced annually as well. If you're representing a buyer, ask if they have one and ask for maintenance records.

I have not seen elevator coverage in any of these programs. It may require a special service contract.

Never saw it that I remember. It's unusual that a home has one anyway in my area.

I have no clue and have never looked into it. I'd be surprised if any company offered that coverage. Why don't you call all these companies and ask them? Their policies are all on-line... you can pull them up and check that way as well.

May I call you Michelle? The elevator company should provide its own warranty.

I suggest you call your local reps for the companies. If they don't sell the coverage they may have resources for you that do sell elevator coverage.

I don't thing a home warranty company is the correct tool for the job.

Seller or buyer? If a buyer simply ask for a seller prepaid 1 yr (or however many years you have in mind) service contract with Otis or whatever elevator servicing company is in your area.

If your seller - provide the above.

Either that or the VISA plan.

Doubtful. It's more likely that the elevator company would provide some type of warranty.

New twist on an old question Blue Head. I don't believe I've ever seen a home warranty that included an elevator.

Hi all,

Thank you for suggestions, I already reached out to usual home warranty reps. I did not see elevator coverage in anyone's published options online, which is why I sought help from the experts at AR.

Unless you are in the same area where I am, you would not be dealing with the same company, in most cases.

I do not remember seeing elevator coverage from any of the companies around here.

Not much need for that coverage in residential homes.

I agree with some of the other responses, it might be better to enter into a service agreement with a company that specializes with elevators.

I have inquired about this in the past and home elevators are much like reverse osmosis systems and large filtration systems - they are only covered by their manufacturer's warranty - typically, at most, 10 years.
