I was just thinking...do you remember that dog that appeared quite often years ago on ActiveRain?   Workarounds of all varieties are necessary.  Here and in real life.  I don't use Firefox but glitches of all varieties are seeming to "pop up" from time to time.

Isn't that interesting . . .  Firefox is the only browser that does work for me.  Tried Chrome, etc. and never had any good luck.

Sometimes you need to restart your computer maybe even do a disk cleanup and defragment the drive. On an easier level close FireFox and reopen it...maybe???

Carol Williams I did that as well on my notebook computer but I descovered that there is a setting in your browser that you can adjust and it will work fine again.

Working fine for me.  Are you talking about the one in the browser itself or the search box w/in active rain?  My FF one is set to DuckDuckGo

Hi Carol- I do use Chrome but it is not without its glitches. When I run into an issue, I restart my computer, make sure my browser is updated, and delete cookies.

Not a technie, Mozilla typically recommends to remove extensions and restore browser to defaults.

This suggestion is to reboot in safe mode and see if works there:

Since the last 'upgrade' my search engines will not work in Firefox, I have to use Edge

I would delete Chrome & upload it again with newest version. Windows 10 has some issues so it might not be Chrome at all!

Alan is right as there are no notices of updates 1/2 the time.

You might try to make sure that your Firefox is the latest version.  They update that thing pretty regularly, and it's worth staying current.
