Thanks, but I don't need an awareness beyond what I already have.

  • Los Angeles City: Feces lined streets, bubonic plague and other diseases in camps, etc.  City inept at dealing with it and blaming the wrong causes.
  • San Francisco: Has a "Poop App" to let you know where people have dropped trowel so you don't step in it.  Worse than LA City.  City deteriorated under the guidance of Gavin Newsom, who will likely do the same to California as a whole.  Again, blaming Realtors and the housing market.
  • Seattle: More poop on the streets.  City council won't allow the use of powerwashers because, and I kid you not, they're racist.  How are they racist?  Because water cannons were used against protestors in the 60s.  Yep, you can't make up this level of retard.
  • Ventura County, my area: Homeless camps exist, sometimes they leave and ransack homes.  Most of the homeless out here that you see begging are actually living in nice homes and driving nice cars.  They make a solid 5 figures tax free.

Homelessness not a huge problem in Connecticut. I Googled it & got this...

"The number of homeless people in the Danbury area appears to be trending down for the fourth straight year" "Only four people were found staying outdoors Tuesday evening during the annual one-night census of the homeless across the state, tying the lowest number recorded locally since 2011."

What one puts their attention on expands. Let's put our attention on those that are working and pulling their own weight. Another datum is that you get more of what you reward. Hand ups are great - hand outs is a sure way to keep someone down.

It may be "cruel" or insensitive but if all the "hand out" programs went bye bye - there would be a lot less homeless people around. They would get to work or perish. The homeless "problem" is so huge because it gets so much attention and "it works" as a way to get by. If it didn't work - it wouldn't be a problem.

MY PURPOSE...for this question shared...

I was looking into a second home and in the different states/areas of inquiry I decided to ask: Is there a homeless problem there. So far, I have not found a NO but instead a percentage given. Linked to this was crime rate as well as welfare and taxes along with law enforcement. Society is complex when you bunch us up together. Not everyone fares well due to one problem or another. Instead of helping other countries...help this one was my thought for now and in the times to come

It is out of control here in San Diego and people look in the opposite direction. The local government solution? Provide facilities for the homeless to store their junk. Totally dumb!

Though some people become homeless due to events outside the scope of their control, there are too many safety nets out there, ensuring the addicted or those with no respect for responsibility and accountability, remain that way. And I do agree with Dan Pittsenbarger

I know here here in my area as many they are going about it the wrong way, they put all homeless into one lump word and try one thing to fix it. But you have to fnd out why each is homeless to be able to help. Sadly not all can be helped. There is mental illness and thse addicted who may not want help, may not want to live in a shelter or any confined place. There is many that can be helped when it is economic. Politicians dont get it and what is happening in many cities is a disgrace with the current conditions getting worse in LA, Seattle, San Fran etc

I did it just to see if something unusual came up. What I found were positive articles for my area. We're a fairly good size Metro area so there will be homeless unfortunately. The articles were about the how NC is using a new model to help the homeless and how cities are discussing how to help the homeless as they grow. Thank goodness we don't have the issues you see in CA.  It is sad anywhere. Good luck with your 2nd home search.

I do not need additional awareness, Richie Alan Naggar . I can see it first hand on a daily basis in my community and surrounding communities.

It is a problem for which society has not yet found a solution.

Dallas, yes, but not too much in other surrounding cities.  I think we did  a better job in providing shelters compared to other cities such as Seattle or San Francisco. Sometimes you passed one or two while driving but no camps.  I understand that unfortunate things can happen and it's out of our control.  However, I also think most of the problem comes from using drugs.

We are already in a Recession. Homeless numbers keep increasing. A large portion of them are mentally ill or drug addicted- these people are unable to hold down a job even picking up trash. Where the weather is warm and the city ignores, the numbers will double in the coming four years.  okay done with my downer talk what solutions do we see?  Job training, power washing sidewalks with the same 1% beach I use on barn floors, metal container housing, policing their petty crimes, stop the flow of meth from Mexico, enforcing crime under $900 (in California police don't make arrests for crime under this dollar amount as it is a revolving door, hot meals and a shower) instead of sending the repeat offender to county jail we are building a new camp at closed military bases - they can have a garden, they have work duty and a dorm type bed until they get clean from drugs)
