I'll admit I raised my eyebrows yesterday morning when I saw the headline in the Charlotte Observer. Google truist and the following definition pops up but I suspect many will be somewhat doubtful about applying that definition to a bank:

Not sure that name will garner a strong presence, not catchy from an advertising standpoint, in my opinion. Some words that end in ist are...activist...communist...egotist...opportunist...etc.
