Taking over?  Really?  Times change.  The world evolves.  The future of real estate and the latest players may or may not even be known yet.  There are bigger concerns.  And that's not a news flash.

I think a large percentage of real estate sales will occur online with very little face to face communication. There is a whole generation of people that prefer it that way. I do not think that traditional sales will go away, it will just be another option for buyers and sellers.

I seriously doubt it. They still can't tell a home-buyer if the seller is going through a divorce or is having some other life change that is causing a sale. They can't tell a buyer if the septic system is in need of a major repair or if the foundation has issues that might require a professional inspection. They can't tell a buyer if the neighborhood is experiencing a change. They can't tell a buyer if a neighbor has a barking dog. Some things can only be discovered by an agent who is familiar with the neighborhood, the market and the circumstances.

No I don't think they'll take over but it would help slow them down if agents stop paying them money to get inbetween agents (us) and the public. Stop paying for leads. Do your own marketing.

No. I think they're try to get as big of a piece of the pie as possible. It seems Zillow is already shrinking in market share which is probably why they're opening their own brokerages. We also don't know what else is brewing out there. If Amazon does enter the ring (which it sounds like they might), then they'll be one more conglomerate to worry about. Real Estate is changing, no doubt about it.

Be aware, both of these companies are MARKETING companies, not real estate companies. Companies such as these will make it increasingly difficult and expensive for the agent to engage online real estate buyers or sellers.

The world as I see it will find agents with extremely limited access to the consumer. So the choice is learn the 'old school' sales trade of G&G or forfeit increasingly larger portions of compensation for the opportunity to have access to a consumer.

You can feel the tremors of a coming evolution in real estate. Z or R will not be the drivers.

Joseph Domino 480-390-6011 has shared a great deal about this previously and presents a real argument regarding current agents sunsetting with their peer clients.

The best answer to this question is to ask the consumer and not to read online articles what Zillow and others like them want you to believe. We actually conducted a live survey going to the Thousand oaks mall in southern California. We asked 250 people 3 major questions.

1: Will you sell or buy a home without using the assistance of a real estate agent? 248 answered no.They will want to use a real estate agent and will not do it themselves without an agent.

2:Will you buy a home in a click of a mouse doing the entire process online?

245 people answered no.They will use a real estate agent to assist them in the process.

3:Do you know who Zillow is or Realtor.com?

185 people did not know who is Zillow or Realtor.com.

So, the conclusions are: 1:Venture capitals investing billions of dollars on dreams that will never come true and want you to believe that they invented a new wheel.

2: Most of people want to interact with people, want and need the human touch.

3:The process of selling and buying real estate is no walk in the park.It is very complicated and it involves many emotions that an AI will never solve.

Until now I have a hard time to understand why so many real estate agents are paying so much money to those who are basically their competition and want to eliminate them.

Zillow will try and we'll be gladly paving the way for it by blindly handing them over our listings.  Zillow now buys homes, sells those homes, has a lending office and even an escrow company (if memory serves).  They are even required to have a Broker's license in several states due to their iBuyer program.  Although the swear they won't do it, we all know it's just a quick jump from where they are to being the next Redfin.
