Fair is subject to much interpretation.  If you make an offer of what you consider "fair" and it is accepted that's one indication.  Good luck.

I'd end up paying them a lot being I'm in ND Susan Smith BUT all kidding aside when we helped each other out in the office (I'm retired now) it was just an "I owe you one".

$50 was kind of a rule of thumb, then it seemed extreme or not enough and no one cashed checks, etc. Now it's an "I owe you one" - and make sure you reciprocate.

Hi Susan,

I'm in east central Florida on Cocoa Beach and the best answer I can give is "It depends". If you're asking another agent in your office or a friend outside of the office, we do it as a favor in case we ever need help.

If you're asking an agent you don't know or don't have a relationship with (such as an out of area agent who has a listing here and needs someone to show it) every agents seems to handle that differently on a case by case basis.

I see from your profile that you are in Orlando which is much different from the beach so agents there may handle such a request differently.

Dee Toohey and Lesley Wilson-VanGoethem are both in the Orlando area so may be able to weigh in. Good luck!

Typically we go with helping each other out in our office. If it's one of these above and beyond showings - long drive or fending off rabid dogs, walking through a swamp to get to an off grid cabin - then some amount so the agent is well compensated for their time. Something more than "fair" is appropriate. The amount would depend on the what the person did and how much time it took and how much expense they went to in order to help you out.

I have no idea... it's a negotiation between the agents, I should think. And I'd need to know more about the specific situation to think about what might be fair if I were in your shoes or if it's just a quid pro quo... you show mine and I'll show yours one day.

If the buyer is your buyer, and the house is your listing, I can't image another agent being interested. But, a % may catch the attention of an agent who has caught a clue.

I would refer to my 'Good List' and find someone that needs a pay back or someone you want to build with. Then don't be greedy. Stay in your lane and let the buyer have separate representation.

But, $50 dollars an hour for a licensed agent....that could work out pretty good.  I KNOW some agents working as employees at some franchises wish they could make so much.
