We all make snap judgements Merv Edinger & Associates , it's part of human nature. That snap judgement may lead us to look into things futher or run like the wind. I can tell you I'm much more likely to look further with a picture then a logo.

I always ask the photographer to try and make me better looking. I slipped the last guy $5. I don’t know if it helped.

No. However, poor photographs do not project a professional image.

I would not use a logo for my profile photograph on ActiveRain.

As Barbara Todaro has been known to say - the eyes buy.  Yet content is also relevant. Transparency is important to me. We cannot help what we look like unless we are willing to spend thousands on surgery, fake eyelash extensions, bleach for hair, etc.  I care most about what is in one's heart and head. Phony bologna does not work for me.

Not so much on quality (although good quality is preferable) but more on whether or not they have a personal profile photo as opposed to none or generic.

I think it's especially important in real estate to have a personal photo since people do business with those they know, like and trust. I would not feel comfortable referring business to or working with someone who did not have a personal photo posted.

If you are asking about non-real estate, depending on the line of work the answer may be different. Those in professional industries should have a decent photo posted while it is less important for those in ancillary services

I try not to judge, no matter what the situation..... however, I think a profile photo on any site should be a quality photo.... doesn't need to be professional, but should be quality ...

Some kind of photo on a dating site seems important and a basic rudiment, but other than that type of group a photo doesn't matter to me.

I think a photo helps one beceome more "real" to readers in any forum.

Not really, but people judge by appearances whether we like it or not. That applies to people, cars, and homes.

Yes.

Of course, to add to that short answer. It's kind of like online dating. You get two profiles. One has a photo, a description of some sort (that you can connect to), and the grammar and spelling is correct with a way to contact the person. The other has a fuzzy photo and a description that makes no sense and no contact information. I'd opt for #1.

No but, I'm sure there are people who do. It's not about what I look like but, what I have to offer them. They can very easily find their answer anywhere online.

Bear in mind, they aren't just looking at one online/social media site either. They find us here or on our websites, they're going to search LI and FB for us too.

SOMETHING has to get my attention.

Really good and Really bad are equally effective.

ONLY then (got my attention) does the content of the profile matter.

Those who 'put themselves out there in SM' have consented to be judged. Make the most of it....and......HAVE SOME FUN!

Do I judge? If ones actions are to attract attention, judgment is part of the mutual agreement.
