As far as I know maybe a day or two after an ice storm with strong winds Fred Griffin . A LOT of power is generated in ND and I think they can redirect it as needed here. That being said some of the more rural communities and farmsteads probably have gone much much longer.

Good question, curious myself. Also curious how many have backup hard-wired-in natural gas generators.

12 hours max is what I remember in the past 30 years. Since I'm in a van, the only problem I would have is when the battery dies, I now have a 2 battery system.

We rarely have power outages from storms.  I don't recall any power outage of more than a few hours.  The last outage I had was a few weeks ago when a car hit a power pole near my home. The power was back on in less than an hour.

Eight days and it meant no water (no showers, no bathrooms), no heat in addition to the ususal - no lights, internet, cell service (since via Microcell as we have no regular service). We installed a full-house generator since then, but after the rogue tornado we had, no gas trucks could get through due to downed trees and wires to deliver gas for the generator!

2004, Florida got hit with Charlie, Frances, Jean and Ivan.  We were without power for 2 weeks maybe 3. Our neighbors got together and we were cooking everything in our freezers out on our grills. That was when we bought a generator. Once Home Depot got a shipment in we ran down to get one. We wouldn’t be without one now.

The most around here was around 9 or 10 hours.  Went out around noon on a super hot Sunday day (no storm issues), so I held an open house where there was AC.  Power was still out when I got home and stayed out until 9 or 10 in the evening by the time they got around to fixing our power pole.  I did bring the crews some water and sports drinks, it was hot and they were working their butts off.

Fred we don't have to deal with the huge issues all you folks on the coast have been dealing with. I feel for all of you - it's just crazy.  As for us we've probably lost power for a half day, maybe. Unless it's the dead of summer and really hot out we could deal with an outage for pretty long if that ever happened.

Wednesday through Sunday is a pretty long time! I am sure you were prepared, though.

When we first moved to the area where we live now, a tropical storm came through and we were out for 5 days.  Ironically, we had discussed putting in a whole house generator before we moved and that caused it to get moved to the top of the priority list and get installed shortly thereafter.

Of course, once you do that, it is almost a guarantee the power will never be out that long again.  When the remnants of Michael came through here last week, a number of people lost power but should be back up midweek. Our generator ran for about 8 hours total, I guess.

We had an ice storm when I was living away from my hometown and they were without for about 10 days I believe, maybe even 14. Before I cut down the bamboo in my backyard, we would lose some power in the wet season and it may be out a day or two.
