Yeah if you want your post to be more searchable, use tags and keywords, then bold and italicize those same words in the post. We were taught this a long time ago here and it works.

I also like using key words in my blog such as home buyer, seller and Manchester NH so my blogs become search-able by consumers. I include other words within the first sentence for who i am going after like fsbo, first time buyer or new construction 

Yep, do as much as you can to get your post find by category or interest. 

I would not go 'down deep' putting things into subdivisions like Endre said as I'm not sure anyone looks there anymore. At the same time, don't pidgeon hole your posts either.

They will be useful someday like Fred said with a tag cloud. Helps you find your posts by subject if you will.  When you start writing 1500 posts your memory is gone.

To check to see if you are coming up per your topic, do a search with a general description of your topic.  Then check to see if the title of your blog comes up at all!!

I do use both but believe that both content and Title of the blog seem to have more influence from what I have observed. But you may want to ask others that are more expert with SEO etc. Ande Breunig
