Oh, yes, we love our millennials here in Charlotte! Craft breweries and revitalized neighborhoods are most appealing to them too. With tech and financial jobs filled with millennials dominating our market, we sell to a lot of millennials.
One of my client/sphere invited my husband and I to a party last weekend - all of the 35-40 attendees but, 3 of us were millennial homeowners and a couple of them have started families now and were discussing moving up.
They are decisive and they LOVE texting! I have two millennial boys so, relating to them is second nature to me; I have no problem marketing to them or communicating with them!

1. Charlotte is one of the top three cities to which millennials are flocking
2. I am not seeing a huge demand on their part for real estate. What does "about to purchase" really mean? Many millennials do not have the money and income needed to purchase a home yet.
3. You can google millennials and find out all sorts of information about what makes them tick.
4. Within the millennial generation there are many different types of millennials based on their stage of life. They are not uniform in what makes them tick.
5. I don't market to "generations." I serve all of them 80% of my business is repeat and referral business... and I'm referred people of all generations. I don't value one more over another.

Francisco,
We have always marketed to people and not labels. Changes are afoot no doubt about it, we all are changing with the times. I have found that people of all ages have Millenial qualities and values. And remember, these millenials had parents with similar values in many instances. A

Millenials are everywhere & while the facial hair & craft brews is all good they're still one of the toughest groups to sell real estate to. I just saw a chart yesterday on it; the majority of them don't have the money to buy, live at home, rather rent, etc etc etc.

I believe lots of people are making reasons to move into a more "city lifestyle" . I discuss and I listen. I am constantly learning.

They are already here, changing restaurant trends, not eating out at stndard restaurants, putting malls out of business and now buying homes. There is two types though, those with a high will to succeed, they want their own home, they do their home work and will listen to advice. The others seem to like living with their parents, are not active and wont be buying any homes anytime soon.

My Gumba Peter Testa nailed it!
Keep marketing to Baby Boomers. Millennials don't have the money yet.
Now some of the young entrepreneurs I deal with do.
Here's the deal though; they will squeeze a dollar to make it holler and you better produce lots of data and the sources because they're going to want to check for themself. They're not a particularly trusting group. If you win them over, they'll consider you a friend.
Speaking of friends, by friends I mean 10,000 of their closest Facebook friends they'll be crowdsourcing every time they need to make a decision. That was kind of a joke.

Millennials still seem to be a very loosely defined generation as to start date.. many are now mid 30's apparently so its prime time

Francisco Peot - Boston Metro has some of the pockets for Millenials. Not as much as in outskirts of Boston where majority of my business comes from.

Not so sure it is a geographical thing so much as a aging of the population and it is getting to be their time.

They are taking over the tech world and have money. They are leading the future of real estate so get on-board.
