With my book, a bottle of tequila, a shot glass watching The Sopranos. Seriously the teacher didn't teach me shit. I learned it all by myself. Well with the help of the boys!

my favorite way to study for the real estate exam was laying by the pool....covered in oil.... getting a tan while flipping through pages of notes from class.... no computers then....1978.... classroom instruction...once a week for a zillion weeks...and a test that took weeks to find out if you passed or failed.... passed... tanned.... looking healthy.... ready to make money....

When I went through real estate school back in 1995 ... my instructor repeatedly told us that Bananas are BRAIN FOOD. So we all had a banana at our desk and he also suggested when we are reading and studying to eat a banana. Last but not least, guess what I ate just before going to take the test? You got it, a banana. I passed. Not sure if it was the banana or pure luck. You choose!

30 years ago I knew vocabulary backwards and forwards - all by using note cards. Old school but it work to this day for agents. They can actually make it fun too!

What I studied is a bit out of date.
I studied a Virginia real estate manual while in law school. There were no classes. This was in the fall of 1960.

Index cards. I would right a question on one side and the answer on the other side but only the questions that gave me the most trouble. I would carry them everywhere I went, came in handy when I had to wait in line or at the dentist or airport, or anywhere, in traffic...but only if I was at a standstill...In So. Cal you could be on the freeway stopped for minutes at a time. I also recorded in my own voice the chapters that gave me the most trouble and I would listed to them in the car. Years later, I found out that actually listening to your own voice helps you remember things.
Good luck.

I did not study. I did two straight weeks of class, took their cram course and their final. Took the state exam about two or three days after the conclusion of class & their final. For my broker license I sat down and read the state statutes & regs.

Excellent question...I enrolled in several different courses that promised I would pass. I opted for the CD's so I can hear it in my commuting times. I also found their quizzes and tests spot on...Repetition of the subject matter is the key to passing not knowledge of how it works. That will get you a license but whether you know what you are tlaking about or doing is another subject

Seriously group study is always fun, I did mine with text books and ...wait for it...VHS video tapes of the trainer from Duane Gomer RE School.

When I got my license, way back in 1978 it was all about getting questions from previous testers to review. I used "Anthony Schools" products. I flunked the first time by 4 questions. The second time I was studiously going through the test when I glanced at the guy's watch across from me and realized I had only 20 minutes left! I was just 1/2 done! (I didn't have a watch in those days--An EZ rider thing). I furiously tore through the questions and almost ran up and handed in my test. I left and was in the bathroom when one of the monitors came in and said, "Wow! You finished that test in record time!" I looked at him and muttered, "What?". He shook his head and said, "You've got another hour to go and you got it done before anyone else!" I had read the guys watch wrong. Instead of 20 mins I had 1:20 left. The cool thing was I got the "Big package" in my mailbox a couple of weeks later meaning I'd passed!

When I got my license training was still being carved on stone. Seriously, if I were studying now it would be online.

It was 1979 - I was 17 and already in college - I think I studied and took the test on a stone tablet - I rode my dinosuar to the testing facility. I passed it but they do not give you a license until you turn 18. My agents who have worked for me seem to pass the first time with the online class because that is how test is taken.

I did practice review questions over and over until I knew the material.
